Sort of. I didn't think the character would be able to carry a movie on his own, but he did.

It will be very interesting to see how Arthur does.

Watched some Redbox dreck called "My Soul to Take." Wes Craven, what happened to you?

    Touche.

In what has lately been a long line of Redbox crap (pretty sure I've rented all the good movies from it), also saw one called "I Spit on Your Grave." Much like "My Soul to Take," it had a decent premise, but didn't have the execution needed to make a good film.

As I watched both, I had ideas of where they were headed and looked forward to it, but ultimately, they didn't go in those directions and settled instead for some mindless killing. There was one scene near the end of "I Spit on Your Grave" that could have had some extreme tension and ended up instead with a shotgun stuffed somewhere it shouldn't go.

Seems that many directors (and/or studios) these days never heard the Hitchcock explanation of suspense. There's two people eating breakfast and a bomb is under the table. The bomb goes off, that's a surprise. The bomb doesn't go off, that's suspense.

I had actually heard that the I Spit on Yor Grave remake was solid. I haven't seen it though.

I haven't seen the original, but the remake was predictable (I figured out how the entire movie was going to go pretty quickly) and missed some opportunities to be really good. Again, it had a good premise, but settled for 'Saw' style torture porn instead of real tension. If you watch it, let me know, because there's one particular scene that could have really made the audience squirm in anticipation and they completely whiffed, but I don't want to give it away.

It's despicable. Much like the first one.

Just got around to seeing '24 Hour Party People' a decade too late.

A really fun, funny two hours. Steve Coogan was perfect and the music, obviously, is fantastic.
