I watched the first one. It's despicable, but not as despicable as "The Burning," which I believe was on Britain's famed video nasties list.

I like saying "video nasties," though. Kind of like how I like saying, "naughty bits."

I saw the original as a teenager.

I remember reading a decent review of the remake, either in Rolling Stone or EW maybe? I was stunned, but I still wasn't going to go see it.

"Insidious" was one of the most haunting and frightening movies I have ever seen. Aside from a handprint on a sheet, there is no blood. The visuals were arresting. Key was James Wan's use of steadicam and wide shots, some of which when I think about them still give me the chills.

Viewers today are so wired to the flow and feel of a horror movie, but Wan really swims against the tide with most of his scares -- allows use of imagination and really awards viewers who pay attention.

Rated PG-13, I cannot imagine a 13-year-old not being utterly terrified at this film. Parts "It," "Poltergeist," "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Exorcist" -- yet doesn't feel too derivative.

This is the way I feel about "The Changeling". Not a drop of blood and it scared the crap out of me.

    Changeling is so criminally underrated.

Eastwood's next project is a biopic of J. Edgar Hoover, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Sounds interesting ...

Great! DiCaprio will probably look better in a dress than most male actors.

    Repressed? Check. Self-loathing? Check . . .

Watched "Easy A" last night. Decent flick, a couple of humorous moments but nothing really special. Emma Stone is a cool chick though.

Hobo with a Shotgun - The making of retro exploitation films should be banned. This was made by someone who is in love with the idea of exploitation's style, but doesn't have any restraint when it comes to the gore aspect. There's some cartoonish villains, but there's too much Canadian actor stink on 'em to take their wild bloodthirst seriously. Intelligent social commentary is limited to Rutger Hauer (The Hobo) addressing a bunch of newborns at a hospital before he fights two weird robots. There's also an attractive prostitute who plays a significant role, but she doesn't get naked. There's almost no inventive use of profanity either. FAIL.
