Watched Stephen King's "The Stand" over the last couple days.

Man, is that a movie in need of a remake.

It's a four-part miniseries spanning over six hours and while it's starts off awesome and the premise is very solid, the middle and end just flame out in a confused pile of broken storylines and rushed, poorly edited cuts.

Still, it was an interesting six hours and, as I said, the premise is really good but this movie needs to be remade by someone who A.) Knows what's needed and not needed in a movie and B.) Can rework the horribly cheesy ending into something much more effective.

I should have clarified that I was not speaking of the Eastwood movie. "The Changeling" was a horror movie from the '70s with George C. Scott. A classic ghost story without gore and absolutely terrifying. That was the comparison I was going for. Had actually forgotten about the Jolie film.

Yeah, I always thought she was really, really hot and was quite disappointed that she never got naked.

David Spade ripped her once on Stern, saying that she thought she was better than everybody else on Just Shoot Me because she saw herself as a "film actress" and not a "TV actress" and acted like everyone else were just TV actors, glossing over the film career that George Segal had.

Who? This guy? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0792177/. He wasn't that bad ... oh, yeah, he was.

Eh, for some reason, before I rewatched it this weekend, I thought Billy Ray Cyrus played Flagg. I wouldn't have been far off.

Also, was I the only one bothered by the whole Nadine storyline? They spent scene after scene in the first three parts building this whole idea of her being Flagg's wife, being the woman who would bear his child and then ... ? Nothing. He bangs her, she jumps off a building. I feel like that was a giant waste of time.

Oh and the "hand of God" finish couldn't have been worse if they tried. I'd like to be able to go back in time to that production and see who thought that would look good on camera.

Is it just me or does Russell Brand suffer from Tim Conway disease. You like him playing off other people, in supporting roles, but he's just not someone you want to watch for 90 minutes.

Eastwood is known for doing it all in one take, unless someone really screws up. I know he's typically applauded for it, but I wonder if part of the reason he does it is laziness and he's able to get away with it because he otherwise does such a good job.

Hell, I would watch Tim Conway in a remake of "Arthur."

Watched Up Close and Personal last night with Mrs. Novelist. Better than I remembered, and Michelle Pfeiffer was incredibly beautiful. It took some liberties with the TV news industry, but hey, why should they be any different? Still, a fairly entertaining movie.

    Did anyone see Arthur?

I was wondering if any actor had ever had back-to-back No. 1 movies in back-to-back weeks, but Hop beat Arthur. Still, I wonder if any actor has ever been the lead in the No. 1 and No. 2 movies in a given week (not counting re-releases) because I remember back in 1997 when they re-released Star Wars that Star Wars and Empire were No. 1 and No. 2 one week. I wouldn't count that.

OMG I love this movie so much. It's cheesy, and probably not that good. But I absolutely love it. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

Finally watched Steel Magnolias last night. Started watching Falling Up, a movie with Annette O'Toole and Snoop Dogg (seriously?) but turned it off halfway through to go to bed.

Would Hop really count, though, since it's only his voice?

Shrek is always listed when people say how well Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers do at the box office when I don't think any have had a live action hit in about a decade. Your point is taken though.
