Speaking of Spielberg movies, I'm pumped for "Super 8." It's not getting the most hype of the summer blockbusters, but I think it can be the best movie of the summer. Seems like it's right in Spielberg's wheelhouse and with J.J. Abrams as writer and director, it looks like a recipe for success.

Went and saw First Class last night and left impressed. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and was pleasantly surprised with how Vaughn handled the Hellfire Club.

I for one was fine with the long/detailed backstory of Xavier and Erik. They're the two that make this movie go and the rest, besides Mystique are just secondary/filler to me.

With a sequel, can't wait for the other original X-Men to have their story and time. Hopefully Cyclops will actually get some proper treatment this time around.

The only gripe and yeah this might be a spoiler - do we have spoiler tags? - ah screw it.

    No shit.

Also way overboard. It's almost like she's saying "Look at me...Noomi Rapace didn't do this!"

Saw "Water for Elephants" last night. Walz is tremendous. Loved the costumes and circus pizzazz.

I am right there with you. Sounds like something in the lineage of Close Encounters, E.T. I'm thinking something that will exceed my expectations like District 9.

Can't tell what you're linking to, it takes me to a main TMZ-like page.

Again, very NSFW (unless you work at Sony Pictures!)

Redboxed "No Strings Attached" last night. Awfully pedestrian movie with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher as the proverbial "f*ck buddies" who promise never to fall in love, but there was one scene that had me rolling. Portman lives with three girls and a gay dude, and they're all staying home from work with lady cramps. Kutcher comes over with cupcakes for them all, and has made them a mix tape:
    • Even Flow
    • Red, Red Wine
    • Sunday Bloody Sunday
    • Bleeding Love
    and the kicker...
One of Portman's roommates: "Frank Sinatra? 'I've Got the World on a String!'"

Also, one of the women - nearly crying - utters the memorable line "It's like a crime scene in my pants!"

EDIT: Video, minus the "crime scene" line...

Rewound and watched that scene about 4-5 times. Hilarious.

    Sherlock Holmes, Downey. Then, Rathbone.

My wife and I saw about half of that movie with my sister-in-law a while back. Can't say I was that upset about missing the rest when we had to leave, but that scene was funny.

At some point there was a joke about how small Portman looks next to Kutcher, which struck me as even more funny when I went to see Thor later that night.

Yeah, there were a couple that seemed ad-libbed (at least that I can recall). One, Portman tells a girlfriend that when she and Kutcher go out, he looks like he's kidnapped a toddler. Other one that stuck with me was when she's pissed, attacking him. He's rattling off lines like "It's like a hamster attacking me" and "You're a female Rick Moranis."

Some good lines, but overall the movie hits just barely over the Mendoza Line.

EDIT: BTW, as an avowed credit-watcher, I was shocked to see that Carey Elwes (of "Princess Bride" fame) was the older doctor in this movie. Did not recognize him at all.
