Yeah, I'm talking about the recent Portman crap. I loved The Professional. And it's not just her acting - it's her overall demeanor.

I know. And I COMPLETELY get it. Just the mention of her other movies reminded me that I liked GS. :D

Oh, sorry IJAG, my response was more directed at OOP. Actually, I didn't mind Garden State at all. Totally forgot about that movie.

I see where you are coming from. I just don't really care what these people are like off camera, unless they start getting into Mel Gibson territory (overall bad behavior made worse by bigotry).

Christian Bale seems like an ass, but that doesn't bother me while watching Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. I figure there are plenty of movie and TV stars who would disappoint the hell out of us if we ever got to really know them, so I figure it's not worth worrying about.

  6. Just saw X-Men: First Class, and for the genre thought it was a good addition. Sets up the premise well, fills in some gaps, and left you expecting the next chapter in the story. James McAvoy's portrayal of Professor X was interesting. He reminded me of a young Kirk or Picard, someone with all the answers and none of the self-doubt that would be acquired later. And it was great seeing Rose Byrne of Damages in a meaty role.

Agree with an earlier poster: January Jones makes a great villain. Something systemically unlikable about her characters, probably Mad Men fallout.

I have a total man-crush on Emma Stone.

Meaning, I'd love to hang out and have a beer with her and talk sports and shit but I have no sexual attraction to her whatsoever.

The Professional and Beautiful Girls are the reasons most of us love Portman. Other than Closer and Black Swan, most of the rest of her movies have been ambitious whiffs. To be fair, I'm not inclined to blame her for being in the abortions that are the three Star Wars prequels. :D

Second, though I think she's cute... just too damned young for me not to feel pervy about it.

"Exterminating Angels," a French flick from a few years ago. Weird, weird, weird. Sometimes a foreign movie is just too ... foreign. Lots of nudity, though.

I know I'm late to the party but I just watched Kick Ass today. God, what a fun movie.

I stayed away from this when it was in theaters because the trailers (And Nic Cage) made it look absolutely AWFUL but I enjoyed it, a lot.

And I can't remember rooting for a character to win as much as I rooted for Hit Girl. That's a damn cool character.

Oh, and, no I don't care how the book was :) </crossthread>.
