Looks fascinating. Might have to check that out soon.

Initially, I thought it was an interesting premise, but the whole thing left me cold. And tired. The denouement seemed like a whole separate movie. A long, drawn-out movie. Oh, and the aliens ...

'A.I.' is a mess. Might have been better as a Kubrick piece.
But I broke faith with Kubrick after 'Eyes Wide Shut.'

Actually, I think the review that ran in the NYT (by Michael Kinsley?) trashed it.

Speaking of which, "2001" was on last night. I would love to see it in a real theater someday.

I tried to watch "Eyes Wide Shut" once, out of respect for Kubrick, and gave up pretty early. It was hard enough just seeing the blasphemy of Tom Cruise in a Kubrick movie. There's a good documentary/biography out there that is made cringeworthy by the fact that Maverick does the voiceover.

Spielberg turned Kubrick's idea into 'Bicentennial Man' and replaced Robin Williams with the kid who sees dead people.

Just watched this. Didn't realize Michael Fassbender was the guy until I saw his name in the credits. The guy is a total creep, but Fassbender plays him brilliantly and I am not sure I completely hate him. I do believe his character had his goal in mind from the very beginning and manipulated it from beginning to end.

The scene with Mia and his daughter was one of the most disturbing I've seen. Did he get a much worse punishment than he deserved? I suppose I should hate Mia even more than Connor for what she did, but she was just reacting while he was the aggressor.

    Fantastic movie.

Watched Red Eye with Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy last night. Started out well enough and was fairly interesting up until the plane lands. After that, it was complete and utter garbage.

Agree 100 percent. When I saw it in the theater, I actually said to myself 'End it here, end it here ...'

Pulp Fiction two nights ago. Much better the second time around. Really good entertainment. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the non-linear timeline, though.

Last night I watched Jack Goes Boating. It was well done, and I think Phillip Seymour will someday produce/direct a best picture.

    Just finished "Biutiful."

A lot of conflicting emotions going on in this one for me, mostly sadness and anger. Actually, mostly sadness. Javier Bardem is incredible. Film is really well shot.

I have that on my queue. Just signed up for Dish Network for the new house, got three months of Blockbuster by mail. I'm getting the first of teh Larsson trio (or whatever his name is) today. But Biutiful is on the list.
