My kids, who sat happily through "Hop", "Yogi Bear" and "Rio" were both bored by Cars 2. It would be close between the first Cars and the INcredibles for their favorite movie.

Cars 2 was a colossal disappointment.

Is it that bad? I liked the first, but hesitant on seeing the second.

Just saw "The Tree of Life."

It's one of those movies that you don't watch so much as immerse yourself in it. It's actually a bit of a trying experience and requires some patience. The images and cinematography are gorgeous and staggering at times. The acting by all is terrific, including Brad Pitt. Sean Penn isn't really given much to do, but serves a purpose, I believe, insofar as he gives a glimpse of the boy in adulthood.

I can't say I liked it or loved it. It seems like one of those movies that you either hate or appreciate. And I appreciated it deeply. It's a very ambitious effort by Malick (would we expect anything else?). I sat back and said "wow" a lot, but I also flirted with the nods a few times, too.

My teenager said the 5-minute cartoon they showed between the previews and the feature was better than the entire movie.

Sat down to watch "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" tonight. Finished it and instantly watched the other two on Netflix.

That's 7 hours of Swedish films without a break. I'm exhausted. But I loved every second of it. I now see what everyone said about Noomi Rapace completely embodying that role and having trouble picturing anyone else playing her. I will give Mara a shot, but I loved those movies.

And now, I must sleep. :)

Those involved know just how much it sucks. They're just trying to whistle past the graveyard at this point, while doing nothing to discourage the sucker trade.

The Toy Story short and the Puss N Boots preview were the best things we saw at the theater that day. In a theater filled with kids under 8, very few were laughing.

It stuns me that some critics I respect (Ebert) actually had the stones to write that it was better than the first one.

Watched The Wild, Wonderful Whites of West Virginia last night on Netflix streaming.

It might have been the best thing I've ever seen in my life. My God. I urge each and every one of you to watch this ASAP. And I couldn't be more serious about this.
