Seek out the documentary "Edgeplay". It covers the rest of the story and I think it does a great job of explaining why the band could not be anything more than it was. MTV would not have saved them.

"The Company Men" might have been less depressing if I had successfully escaped journalism. I guess layoffs don't hurt any less when you're making six figures?

Just got back from Transformers 3. Apart from the utterly useless female lead, the movie was fantastic. (Especially in 3D).

Lots of explosions, a simple plot that made sense and was easy to follow, just enough jokes to not take away from the action and, of course, the best thing was a lack of racist robots.

And apart from the needless 30 seconds of Michael Bay panning on the useless female lead (Who, by the way, had perfect makeup and hair despite the fact that a war was breaking out in front of her), it was the perfect summer popcorn flick.

    Two thumbs up. Big time.

Funny, I listened to WGN late-night critics call it the worst movie of the year. Of course, "Transformers" movies aren't make for critics ...

That's the "Houston, we have a problem" one, right? Saw it in the theater when it came out a gazillion years ago. It was good, but then Hanks followed up by producing that long spaceflight series on HBO, and my reaction was, OK, we get it. Seemed like he got so enamored of the story, he had to beat us over the head with it.

It was no worse than Thor and, if you go in and watch it for what it is--mindless, summer action--it's a pretty good way to spend a couple hours.

I can't imagine many critics saying anything positive about a Transformers movie. I read one review and you could tell the guy enjoyed it, but he kept coming back to bitching about the idea of the movie being stupid. Who the hell cares if it is fun?

I think some of these reviewers just don't know what to make of this type of movie. You can do it badly. Just look at the last one. But you can also do it wel. They just don't know the difference.

I'd like to see that on a poster: "No worse than Thor!"

Yeah, even with the sort-of-happy ending, it was a real downer.

Just watched The Fighter. Much better movie that I thought it would be.

The bonus on Ward family was fantastic.

My movie channel is debuting "Crazy Heart" tonight. Never even heard of it, but so far I'm engrossed.
