Never heard of it? Jeff Bridges won the Academy Award for that role two years ago ...

KJIM lives (I believe) in some foreign country. May not have kept up with the Oscars.

You could smell the thinking behind it . . .

"Hell, we've got Hanks and Roberts. We're locked in!"

    Not quite . . .

Neighbor: We just saw Larry Crowne, it's the worst Tom Hanks movie we've ever seen.
Me: Worse than Joe vs. Volcano?
    Neighbor: We LOVE that movie.

As much as he's almost universally praised, Hanks very rarely takes risks with his films. With the exception of "Road to Perdition," he never plays anything other than a lovable, if not altruistic, schlub.

Like Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood, he seems content to play "himself" in every movie.

    Transformers this afternoon:
1st 30 minutes were interesting for the historical twist aspect
    middle hour was OK
last 40 minutes was stretched out too long

The weird jokes thrown in seem forced as well.

Better than 2, but still gets a shrug of the shoulders from me and the Mrs.

My kids go nuts for Transformers. My oldest has a lifesize wallsticker of Optimus Prime in his room and loves the cartoon and enjoyed the first two movies on DVD.

But no way in hell am I taking my kids to a 154-minute movie.
