    I still disagree about Nicholson.

'How Do You Know' in 2010 - I didn't see it.

'The Bucket List' in 2007 - Never intend to see it.

'The Departed' in 2006 - Loved it. His portrayal was beyond big. I realize some people thought it was too much. I didn't.

'Something's Gotta Give' in 2003 - Never intend to see it.

'Anger Management' in 2003 -Never intend to see it.

'About Schmidt' in 2002 - Quiet but well made movie. He's good in it, and he's certainly not too big in the role.

'The Pledge' in 2001 - Well done. He was good in it, and not an overly big performance.

'As Good as It Gets' n 1997 - I still love this movie, and he's great in it. The portrayal is big, but it works.

'Mars Attacks!' in 1996 - I have a lot of friends who loved this movie. I didn't care for it. He's not the reason the movie doesn't work.

'The Evening Star' in 1996 - Never saw it.

He's done some bad movies in the past 15 years, but he has also done some very good work.

I caught About Schmidt, which I love, on TV yesterday for the first time in a long while and thought about all this as soon as I saw it here. He plays an old man and plays him well. No two ways about it. Pretty far from that other Jack.

I love "Wonder Boys." Watched it again not too long ago. Michael Douglas has some great timing.

    Always loved this exchange:

Grady Tripp: Well, he did say a few things that made me believe it WAS his car.
    Terry Crabtree: Like what?
Grady Tripp: "That's my car, motherfucker."

Watched Sanctum last night. Not a great movie by any stretch, but it was OK for a $1 rental. My biggest gripe with it is that, for a movie that takes place in caves, there wasn't a lot of claustrophobia or darkness. As opposed to The Descent, which really capitalized on people's fear of tight spaces and oppressive darkness, Sanctum didn't really go that route. The caves were rather spacious and, even when the explorers didn't have enough light, the viewer always did.

There was also some horrific dialogue and Ioan Gruffud was awful.

So, OK, yeah, it pretty well sucked. But it had some really good scenes, too, so I didn't feel like I had completely wasted the 1:49 when it was over.

  5. Finally saw The Fighter.

Good movie. Not a best picture winner in my book and certainly not as good as The Wrestler. Walhberg is a horrible actor but he was minimized in his role. I have a soft spot for boxing movies so I really liked this and the fucked up family dynamic.

God I am so sick of Mass. accents.

The more I see of Christian Bale the more I like him. Alongside Ed Norton, I think he is one of the best actors working. Initially, I thought Bale's performance was good .. Then I watched the clip at the end of Mick and Dick and Bale was a spot-on Dick.

I'm this way with southern accents. I want to punch Kyra Sedgwick every time she opens her mouth on TV.

Eden Lake...a very troubling and disturbing horror movie

    Requiem for a Dream.

    FUCK.

Seriously, this movie has fucked me with worse than Cannibal Fucking Holocaust did. I'm not denying that it's well done, but I want to go jump off a fucking bridge right now.

I'll put Beerfest in instead. Needs some laughs. Sonofabitch what a fucking brutal movie.

Cosmo, RFAD is only movie I've ever reacted to by wanting to throw up. It really fucked with me overall.

I think it should be required viewing in high school.

No Strings Attached. Initially, I figured watching an Ashton Kutcher-Natalie Portman movie would be similar to smoking crack for the first time -- an act from which I could never fully recover. Surprisingly, it had it moments. Until it completely fell apart in the last 30 minutes. I think I made it through without any lasting damage.
