Fascinating story and documentary. Didn't like that they showed photos of the driver after the crash. Could have done without that.

I think I read where the husband -- on the 2 year anniversary of the crash -- sued the state for not having signs that would have signaled to his wife that she was driving the wrong way down a one-way road. And he's suing her brother since he owned the van she was driving. Real savvy guy. Blaming everyone but his wife.

Let's see: "Crazy, Stupid Love" with Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling. There's enough reason right there. Add Julianne Moore and a good script. Really good movie. One of the best i've seen this summer. Also, "Cowboys and Aliens." Eh, went because fiance wanted to go. It was OK. Always enjoy Harrison Ford. Also "Blitz" a bizarre British film about a serial killer of cops and "Hesher," odd little movie with Rainn Wilson. Interesting.

    Crazy, Stupid Love.

Sweet, funny and surprisingly smart romantic film about love and its effect on us. Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell are perfect. Reminded me of Love, Actually; a bit more modest, but certainly on the same level as far as writing, acting and execution.

To reiterate re: Gosling. One moment, which would have been a throwaway for most actors, really added humanity to his sometimes callus character. He meets Emma Stone's character, who finds him cliched and she spurns him. As she walks out of the bar, the director cuts to Gosling for no more than a few seconds. The layers he shows in his eyes, how he clenches his jaw -- he'd fallen in love with her and didn't need to say a word for us to know. Just great stuff. Recommend it highly.

CI, I've decided I will never ever miss a film Ryan Gosling is in. He's tremendous.

Was looking on my Fandango app for showtimes today and came across a movie called "Mysteries of Lisbon."
It made me laugh because the description makes it sound like every bad stereotype of a pretentious art house film you've ever seen:

    Let's run them down.
    * Foreign film with English subtitles? Check.
    * "Crowning achievement" of a director 95 percent of the world has never heard of? Check.
    * Four-hour running time? Check.
    * No chance in hell I will ever see this movie? Even accidentally, two years from now at 2 a.m. on IFC? Check.

And, of course, it seems to be getting good reviews so it'll probably end up winning the Oscar for best foreign language film.

"The Lincoln Lawyer." A solid entertainment with a heckuva cast.

It's a masterwork compared to Hall Pass, an epic piece of shit.

I liked both, but I thought Get Him To The Greek was genuinely hilarious while when I watched Hall Pass, I was thinking, "Holy Shit, this actually doesn't totally suck ass..."

The Bucket List. I can see where people enjoyed this movie, but it was too forced for me. No way does he check-in to a hospital. A man that rich has house calls. I don't care what the PR says.

Then watched Reign Over Me. Wow. I don't think anybody is better than Don Cheadle (sp?). He's just good. And Adam Sandler did just fine in a non-comedic role.

This movie moved me. And I don't have any connection to it. I think that's the sign of a great flick.

"A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" - Godawful mess.

"30 Seconds or Less" - Disappointing. On the positive side, it was short - hour and 25 minutes.

You mean 30 MINUTES or Less, right?
