Watched Ceder Rapids. Apart from the very, very cute female lead (can't remember her name), there's really not much here. And that's a shame because I like all three of the main male characters and I was hoping to get some decent chuckles here.

Good thing I redboxed it and only invested $1 in it.

Agreed. To me, the CGI was much better than in the preview. Dunno if they cleaned it up or if my mind was playing tricks on me.

Just watched the 2005 Brit-flick "Imagine Me & You," in all its sapphic glory. Piper Perabo is a new bride who falls for the florist at the wedding (Lana Headley?). Pretty good flick, really.

(Two hot chicks kissing? Yes, please. Two hot BRITISH chicks kissing and one teaching the other to heckle at a ballgame with "You're a wanker, number nine!" Even better. Can't explain why.)

It's Lena Headey, of "300" and "Game of Thrones" fame ...

From a story/plot perspective, it was rampant with problems.
But the development hooked me and the lead's performance hooked me. Those two elements drew me in enough that enjoyed it.
Although, I was constantly shaking my head and thinking 'No way. Never happen.'

DVD double-header today thanks to the heavy rains in the area.

Soul Surfer -- This is the one based on the true story of a surfer whose arm was bitten off by a shark, but she came back to competition. It was a little long and some of it was heavy-handed, but it overall it was better than I expected. My daughter loved it, though she now wants nothing to do with the ocean. (can't say I blame her).

How Do You Know? -- Not sure if I can call a movie with so few laughs a romantic comedy, but that's what this boring piece of crap tries to be. The dialogue was painful. The best way I can describe it is to say it was the anti-Sorkin. Instead of everybody sounding brilliant, a trap Aaron Sorkin often falls into, everybody sounded like a messed-up idiot. Maybe the writer(s) were going for realistic, and I guess you could say they succeeded, but it just wasn't entertaining.

My daughter (age 10) has been asking to see this, too. You're the second adult who's told me it's good.

I'll try not to hum the "Jaws" music ...

Yeah, I watched that with the gf last week. I was encouraged when I saw it was a James L. Brooks production, but it was pretty weak and predictable. A total waste of Jack Nicholson, and Reese Witherspoon looked like she was trying to play Carrie Underwood's pathetic older sister.

    "True Grit."

I'm still wrapping my head around it, but I'm thinking that it was pretty outstanding. It is a treat to watch Jeff Bridges act.

Worth a buck and two hours of your life.

Ebert gave it 3 1/2 stars, and he was right, as usual.

Blockbuster just shipped 127 Hours. I should get it tomorrow, meaning I can watch it to lead into my "weekend."

30 Minutes or Less. Just a dumb movie, but I laughed several times.
