Star Wars: Despecialized Edition: Someone went to great lengths to strip out all the CGI effects and painstakingly restore the film to all its 1970s glory. Looks great in HD. The Empire Strikes Back is also available.

    "A Serious Man."

It is going to take me several days of thinking and a lot of browsing reviews and essays on it before I'm able to make any sense of what I watched.

The guy who played the main character did an absolutely tremendous job. Stunningly great performance.

He plays Arnold Rothstein in Boardwalk Empire and is really good in that role as well. As for the movie, it's my least favorite Coen Brothers film. I felt like whatever it was going for, it pretty much failed in its execution. I had a general meh feeling about it upon finishing it the first time.

Boring-ass movie. One of the few I've ever turned off halfway through and not finished.

Saw Crazy. Stupid. Love. today... good flick and enjoyed it...

someone earlier mentioned that the girl gave the boy naked pics, but I don't think that was necessarily true... maybe she gave him provocative pics, but not necessarily nude.

I liked the movie, and among the Coens' work it is better than 'Intolerable Cruelty' and 'The Ladykillers.'

A couple during the last few days.

Captain America. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

Sucker Punch. Hmm. Visually it was pretty good, but I expected that coming from Snyder. Everything else? A mess.

You just described 95 percent of all action/adventure/sci-fi/thriller movies released in the last 5 years. 3D and CGI have been the death of good film-making.

I watched this last night. I wouldn't say it was boring, but I can see where it would not hold the attention of some people.

I agree with Big Pern on all counts except the one about Kevin Kline. He might have been underutilized in terms of his talent as an actor, but in terms of the character's place in the story, I think Redford got it about right.

To me, the storyline was more like Dead Man Walking, A Time to Kill or Philadelphia than A Few Good Men because Aiken's defendant was unpopular and being railroaded.

Saw a couple of older ones on the weekend:

White Palace: James Spader looks so nerdy in this movie and looks like he has something stuck up him. Susan Sarandon gets on my nerves. The chemistry between their characters (Max and Nora) was awfully scripted and this movie was too predictable.

America's Sweetharts: I love anything with John Cusack but he compensated for a lousy movie. Christopher Walken was the highlight of the movie for me. I felt they underutilized Billy Crystal in it and this was not one of Catherine Zeta-Jones best preformances. I do like that Julia Robert's character (Kiki) was the underdog. The chemistry betwen Roberts and Cusack was better than Cusack and Zeta-Jones. Again, this movie was predictable and totally a chick flick...

Yeah, as far as Kevin Kline goes, I was specifically talking about him as an actor (and I found his character interesting). As far as his historical significance, I can't really say much about it. I have to admit to being fairly ignorant to the outlying stories of Lincoln's assassination such as this one.

Oh, and speaking of Kevin Kline, one of my favorite performances of his was "Life as a House," which I saw recently. The story of a man facing terminal cancer who decides it's time to finally build his dream house and reconnect with his estranged (and strange) son, played by Hayden Christensen. I highly recommend this one.
