Watched the 2004 version of "Helter Skelter" with the dude who played Daniel on "Lost" as Charlie Manson. Interesting version. He does a great job with Manson.

Don't laugh at me, but this afternoon while I was waiting for sources to call me back, I flipped on the TV and got hooked into Farrah Fawcett in "Extremeties." Never saw it, never thought she was much of an actress. But she KILLED it as the rape victim who turns tables on her rapist. Last half was very "Twelve Angry Men" vibe as she's captured him and plans on burying him alive in the garden, and her two friends are horrified by her plan. An unexpected two thumbs up.

I'd like to have had final cut (feel the same way about 40-Year-Old Virgin), but it was still the best comedy I've seen this year, by plenty. Great cast, and the SPOILERS

graduation-speech scene is more than awkward, but the late shit-hits-the-fan scene is hysterical.

Finally saw Harry Potter part deux.

Wasn't too impressed, honestly. I knew the plot drill because I've read the books. I think they just went for the wow 3-D factor as far as CGI went. I did not see it in 3-D, though, and it was just pretty "meh." I got bored with the battle scenes.

Part of it, though, was that I only bought the ticket an hour before the show and wound up sitting in the third row (here, you get assigned seats -- no kidding). Seats didn't recline and I couldn't see the entire screen in the same glance. It made it hard to focus and take everything in at once.

In watching the previews -- movies coming out with lots of the same old plots, new spefial effects and people I've never heard of -- made me thing of one thing: I miss Westerns.

Still watching Battle: LA and I am bored with it. Nothing but bombs and guns. It's like Black Hawk Down...with aliens...and a bad script.

Heck, I had more fun watching the first disc of Pee Wee's Playhouse, season 1, last night. And that's not saying much.

One other thing that stuck in my mind: Stephen Root played one of witnesses called to testify, and I could not escape the thought that someone was going to frisk him on the witness stand and confiscate a red stapler.

  7. Or say "Tubal Cain" and get dimissed.

You won't thank me and you won't enjoy it.

But it deserves witness. Essential and devastating.

Well, of course it was guns, bombs and aliens. What the hell did you think you were renting? Casablanca? And I'd submit that there was a decent plot and backstory. But, if "Pee Wee's Playhouse" does it for you, maybe it's not worth discussing.

    "Limitless."

    Cool concept, but ...

OH MY GOD. THE VOICEOVERS!!!!! MAKE THEM STOP!!!!

I'm wondering if NZT was an allegory for the Internet, in a way. I didn't think that until the scene where his ex-wife talks about how, once she got off of it, she couldn't concentrate on anything for more than 10 minutes, etc., etc. Plus, it makes the people who use it so much smarter - i.e. we have access to so much information at our fingertips now.

With nothing else to watch late last night, I stuck with "Frozen" until the end.
Anybody seen this movie? Am I the only one?
Just wondering, did the girl die in the car at the very end?
