My issue with "Inception" isn't that it dealt with reality vs. dreams. It's that it hung it on a stupid plot and horrendous dialogue. There was a good movie in that concept somewhere. Christopher Nolan did not make it, though.

We share similar tastes. 'Black Swan' was my No. 1 film of 2010 and I suspect 'Drive' will be toward the top for 2011.

Black Swan was the worst movie I saw last year.

    "Moneyball" -- last Friday night.

First in-theater movie I've seen since July '09.

Without spoilers, why? Keep it general.

My point was I really liked "Black Swan" and have seen no better movie between then and "Drive". This was more about my sheer enjoyment of "Drive".

Perhaps I'm being nostalgic, but there were parts of "Drive" that reminded me of GTA: Vice City. The noir, the mob, the tough loner protagonist, and fleeing and hiding from police cars and copters all had the feel from that game. Even the music/score (the opening theme was great) had this 80s feel and the credits cursive text and color reminded me of the game.

This is the opening theme -

Saw "Drive," and "Moneyball" over the weekend. Loved Drive but I've come to love anything Ryan Gosling does. (And I do mean ANYTHING!). It could have been a little less violent and had more cool chase scenes but it was mesmerizing. Moneyball is just flat-out fun. The character is right in Pitt's wheelhouse and he plays it pitch-perfect. Lots of good supporting characters, too. Loved Jonah Hill and the guy who plays Justice is great. Sorkin's dialogue is great as always. I was in a packed theater and people actually clapped when it was over. Haven't seen that in a while!

"Ed Wood," with my wife, a Depp fan who somehow had never seen it. Good fun.

Nice call. Just curious, what brought this on? Your wife's Depp fandom? Because that movie's been out nof circulation for awhile. I'm a fan, though. And Depp was tremendous.

Drive is the best movie I've seen this year and nothing else is even remotely close.

To be fair, I don't get to the movies nearly as often as I used to...
