Been watching some of AMC's Halloween marathon this week. H20, the best of the sequels, is on now. However, in honor of the redheaded stepchild of the franchise -- Halloween III -- might I remind you that it's only five more days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween ... five more days till Halloween ... Sil-ver Sham-rock!

(Yeah, the math is off. Sue me :D )

Could've been worse. It could've been "Hostel" or "Turistas."

Bridesmaids ... The people who said it wasn't "The Hangover," well, they were right.

I just saw Margin Call last night. This is a great film. I think it's the best Wall Street movie ever made. There's no goofy motorcycle races or horrible acting (Shia) or Paul Giamatti dressed up in a ridiculous Ben Bernanke outfit. And I think Gordon Gekko could learn a thing or two from Jeremy Irons on how to be an evil fuck.

My 2 favorite scenes: Paul Bettany explaining how he spends his $2 million salary and Stanley Tucci talking about the bridge he built. Tucci is in this film for a total of 10 minutes, but hell, what can you say? He's Stanley Tucci and he knocks it out of the park.

Don't waste your time with Cedar Rapids, IJAG. Dull non-story with dreary, unlikeable characters.

Just got back from Ides of March.

Very average film in every sense of the word. The ending was chickenshit.

Any film with Tucci is never a waste of time.

Watched "Bad Teacher" and "I Am Number Four".

Enjoyed Bad Teacher to an extent. Loved the first half of the movie, with Diaz going all crazy and stuff but I HATED the second half of the flick as it basically removed any and everything I liked about the movie with it's cop-out ending. (That's not a spoiler btw).

The scene with Justin Timberlake and Diaz in the hotel was HILARIOUS though.

As for I Am Number Four ... meh. I don't know what I was expecting when I saw the trailer and was intrigued but this movie kind of blew ass. The effects were blah, the plot was dreadful and with the exception of the photographer chick, not one of the characters seemed worth my time.

It's hard to hate Timberlake when he pulls off comedy gold like that character.

My plan is still to wait for HBO to show it. I'll have to look for that.

Similar arcs are not uncommon in "hero" movies. I remember learning something about typical hero's journey stories in a mythology class, which also used Star Wars as an example.

My guess is that you read/discussed Joseph Campbell: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Campbell#Comparative_mythology_and_Campbell.27s_theories.
