Does the eight-hour Kennedy miniseries from last April count as a movie? I was clearing my DVR while pretending to be snowbound yesterday.

Paperdoll: I posted about it earlier in the thread, so for me, it is. I found it intriguing. Had not come across any exploration of the early family history and the stuff about Joseph.

Mrs. Novelist and I went to see The Three Musketeers yesterday. It was Pirates of the Mediterranean without all the supernatural bs. It had its own completely natural bs. It was fairly entertaining, though. Too bad they went for PG13 with a movie set in 18th-century France. A little more debauchery would have been fun. I'd have liked to have seen more of Milla Jovavich.

"Margin Call." Amazing movie. The writing is gold and the acting is pitch-perfect from everyone. Jeremy Irons is amazing and so is Stanley Tucci. I think this screenplay more accurately portrays the Wall Street debacle than anything that has come out so far. I believe there are going to be some Oscar noms out of this one.

    I saw Captain America yesterday.

    Surprisingly good.

I really enjoyed Captain America, too. Great set design.

Watched Love and Other Drugs, AKA The Princess Diaries Girl Gets Boned.

What an odd movie. The serious parts were really well done, as Hathaway and Jake had good chemistry. But it was like the producers were told by the studio: You can make that movie, but you also need to sex it up and add some laughs so the filmmakers went back and added a dumb storyline involving the brother...and 4-hour boners that had no happy ending...oh, and speaking of, the happy ending of the movie blows.

We started to watch 'Love and Other Drugs' the other day. No particular interest. It was on when not much else was.

We turned it off during the opening seen with the male lead in the electronics store.
    That scene was embarrassingly bad.

  8. Saw it Saturday night. Amazing efforts all around. Does for the financial crisis what Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps failed to do. Tucci put up an Oscar-caliber effort, and I'd say the same for both Irons and Kevin Spacey.

Yeah, I forgot about Spacey. He was great but compared with Tucci and Irons' performance, a bit below them. But not much.

Yup. I just couldn't think of the name and I was being too lazy to look it up. Lucas has said that his work was an influence on Star Wars. Seems like it was with Indiana Jones, too.

Watched "True Grit" last night. Interesting film. Didn't get really into it until about halfway through, and the last scenes were the best of the film. Good watch but nothing too amazing. The young girl was impressive.

"The Killing" - directed and co-written by Stanley Kubrick and came out in 1956. Very tight (83 minutes) film noir. I really enjoyed it.
