Watched Green Lantern last night and it was surprisingly entertaining. A little too fake looking with all the CGI, but it was better than Thor or Captain America. I hesitate to compare it to X-Men: First Class because that movie took such a different track than the other comic book movies last summer.

Green Lantern wasn't a bad way to spend two hours.

Redboxed "Captain America" and "Bad Teacher" last night. CA wasn't bad, overall. I did like the way they bookended finding him and his reaction to being in 2011 around his WWII story.

Now... "Bad Teacher"? Ugh. Had heard a few people say it was hilarious, so I gave it a go. Bad move. Best part about the DVD, imho, was the extended preview of "Friends with Benefits." Could barely make it through "Teacher," but watched the FwB preview three times.

    Anyone see the whole flick?

Saw Moneyball last night. I'm not sure I liked it, but I didn't hate it, which I expected to, so that's got to county for something, I guess.

I did. There were funny parts. I thought it was OK. Surprised you hated it that much. It was difficult to root for a main character with absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Anyone planning to see J Edgar?

    Yeah, me neither.

Leo's in a strange place in his career...he's aging out of the boyish good looks, but he still has the mousy little boy's voice. He's becoming a square peg in a land of round roles.

Really? "Inception" was garbage, but that wasn't his fault. I thought he was very good in both "Revolutionary Road" and "Shutter Island."

I liked Inception a lot, but anyone could have played his role. Or any of the roles, for that matter.

I disagree about his being good in the other two, although, FWIW, my wife is solidly in agreement with you.

Saw "J.Edgar." I thought Leo was great and the guy who played his No. 2 was even better. But the script was really odd. It barely touched on the whole dressing in women's clothing thing and spent long, long scenes with the mother, who was just painful. It felt like with a better script it could have been a much better movie.

I thought Bad Teacher was fairly funny. Really good cast. I am a Hot Fuzz fan and that was the first time I saw the funny Lucy Punch.
That would be Armie Hammer I believe from the Social Network.

"J. Edgar" is weird for me. I'll read anything involving the FBI, I love Clint Eastwood movies, and I think DiCaprio is a fantastic actor. And yet I have no interest in seeing this movie. I can't explain it other than the lameness of the previews.

    J. Edgar - All over the place. Any sort of interesting tidbit relating to crime fighting is zapped by dreadful scenes with mother and/or gay lover. Worst scene was when Hoover professes his love to Clyde Tolson. It just comes out of nowhere and then there's this cheesy score playing in the background. The shitburger is capped off with a terrible Richard Nixon who drew roars of laughter from the audience.
