There will be a movie like that nominated every year now, with 10 nominees. The white guilt slot. "The Blind Side" was a best picture nominee, for god's sake.

I used to consider the Academy Awards pretty respectable compared to the Grammys. The more I pay attention, though, the more I realize that they fail pretty miserably at recognizing real artistry in film.

I am getting the feeling that The Muppet Movie is going to be The Blues Brothers for kids. And from me, that is high praise.

Went to see Arthur Christmas with my 4-year-old over the weekend. It was actually really good, very funny. Aardman Animation does good work. My kid started to get antsy toward the end, it was a little long for him but overall he liked it, and he really liked the 3D, it was his first time doing it.
Watched Captain America, which was pretty good, and Dinner for Schmucks, which was pretty not.
Taking my kid to see Muppets on Friday. Not sure who is more excited.

I thought they changed it so they no longer have to put up 10 for best picture.

I've been steadily feeding my kids a healthy dose of the Muppets since they were each about 2. They love them.

My kids are over the moon about seeing the new Muppets movie. It's safe to say both of their parents are equally excited.

"Super 8" comes out tomorrow and I'll be all over Best Buy. Also, "First Class" is on sale at Amazon and Best Buy.

Is the Descendants in wide release yet?

I'm going to the theaters twice over the holiday. Once is for the Muppets. I would like the second to be for that one, but I'm worried that it won't be in wide release yet.

Take Me Home Tonight and Limitless. Watched them both yesterday. Yes, I was bored.

I wanna see The Muppets and I don't have kids. Might be kinda awkward going to that film by myself.
