They were the reason I loved the Muppets.

    Them and the patriotic eagle.

Statler and Waldorf can go get fucked. (On some level, I think they'd appreciate someone saying that to them)

Guilty. And it's my fault ... desperate for a birthday gift a few years ago, I followed the advice of some women on the copy desk and bought Mrs. Coco the first "Twilight" book.

Now I've seen all four movies. And this latest one is the worst, by far. A long, boring wedding to begin the movie, and it only goes downhill from there.

After a while, it felt like I got f****d by a vampire. They could have at least had a cool monster baby, a la Chuckie. But no. The li'l vampire girl barely even cried, let alone try to devour its mother. Fail.

    Four down, one to go.

Super 8 got to me, I gotta admit. My blue-ray copy arrived this week, too.

    Muppet Movie.

Really enjoyed it; it was great to see a modern movie that for all intents and purposes could proudly have been made in 1977. No need for Shrek-lite pop-culture laffs.

Major props to Jason Segel for pulling this off. Hell, even if the movie fell on its face, he deserves credit for trying to make an adult-friendly, sweet movie in this post-Apatow, irony-laden film environment.

Strongly recommend it for a good time.

That's a great review in itself.

    Finally saw Moneyball.

Stunned at how much I liked it.

    "Tree of Life."

    Uh ... come again?

    I keep resisting that one.

Back to back, I've watched "Elephant" and "Tree of Life."

I am going to watch about 10 formulaic mainstream gross-out comedies and romcoms in a row to balance them out.

Super 8 - Don't get the praise. Too much CGI. A see-through plot. Kid actors who weren't really all that good.

Don't. It's tremendous, genius filmmaking. A true cinematic experience. Don't stretch yourself looking to fill plot holes; you'll miss the point. It's a meditation on life and man's place in it.
