Not in the States, no. Movies are a crapshoot here.

I really had never heard of the comic. I must have missed out.

    J. Edgar last night.

Leo was great and will probably get a nom for Best Actor. The personal moments were nice, especially the ones with his mother ("I'd rather have a dead son than a daffodil.") But I thought the overall story fell flat. I enjoy non-linear storytelling, but this felt disorganized at times. There were also some parts in his life they touched on and then just jumped away from (ex. JFK assassination). I guess when you're doing a biopic you've got to magnify the more important aspects of the person's life, but if JFK assassination was of such little importance to Hoover, then why show it for the sake of showing it? Get deeper or not at all. Anyway, that's a specific example of a gripe. The movie wasn't bad, but it could have been better.

Saw Ides of March, which I thought was great. Clooney didn't have much to do, which was kind of the point, but Gosling, Seymour-Hoffman, Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, and Paul Giamatti all gave tremendous performances.

I swallowed the erratic storytelling only because J. Edgar was the narrator -- and his recollection of events has been shady at times. It fit the style of the film very well.

Yeah, I just checked it out from Redbox and loved the flick, too. And I, too, was impressed with Gosling. He's a little strange, though... Canadian kid but speaks a little like a New Yorker. Must've watched the backyard fight scene a dozen times, laughing every time. Best part is, in the scuffle, hearing Gosling under all the screaming asking "What are you grabbing?!?"

Plus... yes, she's much too young for me, but I've got a huge-assed crush on Emma Stone. Someone get me a "creepy old dude" nametag, please. Something about her facial expressions and cool persona ... very appealing.

Saw "The Muppets" today. Very enjoyable. I'm a huge Flight of the Conchords fan, so it was great that Bret did the music (which could have been a lot worse). I won't give away any cameos for anyone here who hasn't seen it yet, but FotC fans will love one of them.

Redboxed "Friends with Benefits," too. Decent flick, and a nice, lingering look at Kunis' naked caboose, so... TWO THUMBS UP. Woody Harrelson pretty damned funny, and a nice sociopathic cameo by Shaun White.

Funny thing is, she's only three days older than the girl who played the 17-year-old babysitter.

"The Descendants" - this was this year's movie that I expected I'd love and I didn't. Clooney was very good, but the movie lacked emotional depth. I don't want to give anything away, but I don't feel like it accurately portrayed what it's like to be in the situation Clooney's character and his kids were in.

Sorry to disappoint, but that was a body double of Mila's ass. She's one of those "non-naked" chicks when it comes to movies...like Jessica Alba.

Don't get me started. Sin City still pisses me off. The only woman in the entire movie who doesn't get naked is the stripper? WTF?!

Add to the equation that she did what basically amounts to a snuff film in 2010's "The Devil Inside Me". I guess if you're Jessica Alba, showing your boobies is bad, but getting beat, choked and humiliated on screen is preferred?
