I saw the first two and he was fantastic in both. I really want to see the other two. He's getting some Oscar buzz for Shame, which is rare from an NC-17 movie and I'm guessing speaks to how well he plays the part.

You can't really go wrong with either Fassbender or Gosling. Both are great talents who should have really good careers.

I do agree he was the main character, but I'm not sure sharing that much screen with Clooney and Seymour-Hoffman (who should get BSA nod) help his cause. That's just how loaded that movie was with great acting.

I've heard a bit of negativity about Drive, but am with you - favorite film this year.

    Gosling is now an A-lister.

A trailer came out last week for Shame and it's just completely dark. Some NSFWish stuff.

Fassbender is excellent. He got overshadowed in 'Inglorious Basterds' by Christoph Waltz's amazing performance and Brad Pitt's general superstardom, but he was very good in his brief role.

He makes an excellent young Magneto and did a great job portraying the rage that was bubbling just below the surface of the character.

I'm interested to see him in "Shame." I don't know anything about "Jane Eyre" or "A Dangerous Method" (a title which really just irks the hell out of me).

Ides was dreck. His character was too gullible to be working in that capacity. It was embarrassing - especially when he said to the reporter "I thought we were friends." Yuck.

You want cold-hearted, cut-throat politics, check out Boss on Starz.

I'm not saying either one of us is right, but I didn't take the "I thought we were friends." line the way you did. It was paired with, "After all of the stuff I gave you..." and I heard it as someone scrambling to do anything possible to keep something out of the paper.

As far as the "too gullible" that was kind of the point. He started off the movie wide-eyed and optimistic about the guy he was working for, and by the end, he was beaten-down and jaded.

Watched Ides of March the other night. Not as good as I'd hoped it would be, but worth a watch.

"Super 8". Loved the movie. The acting by the protagonist and Elle Fanning was dead on. I thought the train wreck was too CGI for me; over the top.

Kind of hit home how without instant media like today, a town to be evacuated under questionable circumstances without the world in an uproar (and waiting 4 days for film to be developed!).

Some critic I read called it "nostalgia porn" and said that it didn't actually need to take place in 1979.

I vehemently disagree with that, for the reasons you point out among others.

Like I've stated on here before, I didn't love the movie because I thought some of the emotional climaxes were unearned.

"A Dangerous Method" has Fassbender as Carl Jung, Viggo Mortenson as mentor Sigmund Freud and Kiera Knightley as a crazy, sexual patient of Jung who comes between the two. It's a Cronenberg film. Limited release right now.

A trailer should start automatically playing once the site loads.

Wider release dates are here: http://www.sonyclassics.com/adangerousmethod/dates.html

Unfortunately, I've got to wait until after Christmas.
