There's a bunch of other good clips there of Cruise hanging from the side of the Burj Khalifa. Yes, he was really high.

There's a good one by some tourist who was just filming the views then he saw Tom Cruise being lowered down right past his window. Cruise waves as he drops down.

It was a mile and a half up, according to other videos. Also, the camera panned and you saw the other buildings, which are regular sized skyscrapers.

I watched some movie on Showtime last night about the Manchester music scene in the 90s, the culture that brought us the Rave.

I have no idea why I stayed up so late watching it considering the Manchester music scene does not even register with me in any significant way.

I should have found some Katy Perry infomercial instead. Or I could have watched Blitzer, Cooper and Larry King's replacement struggle through the Iowa Caucus. Or perhaps I should have watched a replay on NFL network of Tom Brady throwing darts in a blizzard - going uphill (in all four quarters) against a wind that is 50 mph in his face. Passes that Drew Brees can only throw if the thermostat is set on 72.

Red Chapel - A Danish provocateur and two Denmark citizens of Korean descent (one a spastic) head to North Korea to put on a "comedy" show. Their goal was to expose the regime for what it is through comedy, but it didn't turn out that way. Very chilling and disturbing, but instead of anger towards the people of North Korea it invokes sympathy.

It All Starts Today - French film from late 90s about a preschool teacher trying to overcome incredible odds in a poverty stricken village. Probably the best film about being an educator I have ever seen.

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. If you like rape scenes, this is your movie.

Going retro: Watched Cary Grant and Jayne Mansfield in "Kiss Them for Me" on the tube the other night. Not bad. Grant as a war hero who's sick of war, just wants to enjoy his leave while others are trying to get him to play the hero for the war effort.

Thing that sticks out: Mansfield was HAWT. Didn't realize that Marishka Hargitay (from one of the Law and Orders, I think) is her daughter until seeing it on imdb.

If Mansfield couldn't "turn" Cary Grant, I don't know what could have ...

Just finished watching "Frozen" on one of the Encore channels.
Three people (guy, his girlfriend and his best friend) go skiing. They bribe the chair lift operator into letting them take one last run, operator gets called away, his replacement shuts the thing down ... you see where this is going. Think "Open Water" on a chair lift, replace sharks with man-eating wolves and the fear of drowning with the fear of falling, and you've got it.
Not a bad movie, not a great one. Pretty predictable, but there's one truly cringe-worthy scene that struck just the right tone of gore and psychological suspense and had me squirming.

I liked "Source Code". Right up my alley since some of my favorite movies are The Butterfly Effect, Memento and Identity.

Cary Grant is the closest dead body to thousands of people, including myself...he's buried in the crypt beneath the altar at the downtown Los Angeles Cathedral, so he's about 200 yards from thousands of people who live in the lofts and apartments that are sprung up around the Cathedral.

I thought it was tragically bad. Horrible acting, completely predictable. It was one of those I kept watching just to do MST3K in my head as I watched.

I'm with you, IJAG. That movie couldn't have been much worse if it was made by the kids in "Super 8." In fact, it probably would have been better.

Acting was awful, plot was stupid and at no time was it scary. It is, however, perfect fodder for MST3K.
