    Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

    Filmmaking at its best.

Hands down the Oscar winner for best picture.

I really enjoyed Ides of March. Clooney was spectacular. The scene between him and Gosling in the restaurant kitchen was riveting.

Giamatti, Hoffman and Gosling were all excellent as well.

I think Clooney had the right idea by setting the film in a Democratic campaign so the viewers could focus on the story, and not get caught up in railing against a Clooney/liberal agenda.

Given that it was ignored by both the Golden Globes and SAG, I think it's a longshot to even get nominated. No way, no how is it winning.

The Help - Didn't hate it. Didn't love it. It had some really emotionally charged scenes (the Medgar Evers murder reaction for one), but it got a little too sappy and nicey-nice at the end.

I didn't hate it, but it was a big disappointment.

The Incredible Hulk was so much better than Ang Lee's piece of crap. Then again, I really enjoy the "Easter Eggs" in these movies and that one had Incredible had a bunch of them.

I share your deep appreciation of Tinker Tailor, TigerVols (hmm, sequel title?), but agree with lisa that it has no shot at best picture Oscar.

I don't really follow or care about the Oscars, because it seems like there's a lot of political BS going on, but this movie doesn't seem Oscar-y, if you know what I mean. Too dry, too craft-conscious, not blockbuster-ish at all. Just a wonderfully metered piece of work that isn't trying to win an Oscar. That's another thing I like about it.

    The Dark Knight, right now.

    Still enjoyable.

Sorry, I should have inserted a "my" in my post...it's MY Oscar winner for best picture.

As for the REAL Oscar winner for best picture, it's going to be The Artist, which I haven't seen yet.

Fair enough. I think it's actually going to be The Descendants, which I am okay with. Oldman might sneak his way into the Best Actor list. Noms are out on Tuesday.

Think there will be any surprises? Something like "Win, Win," "A Separation," "Drive," "Bridesmaids," "Super 8," etc., etc., somehow sneaking into the field?
