Just think about what we're talking about here: Ben Affleck as a potential favorite for Best Picture and Best Director. Or, at the least, a real contender.

Well, this is only his third film, but you're right: All three have been well-received. So it's no huge surprise, in that context. But it wasn't that long ago that he was considered essentially a hack celebrity. His name was mud among critics - and a lot of movie goers, too.

Then he decided to stop being a celebrity and start making movies.

That's true, and he's been very forthcoming about that very fact. Also, like Brad Pitt, he's a guy who's always going to have to overcome his looks to be taken seriously.

It had to be a hit for TWC to promote it. That's how it works with Harvey.

Silver Linings Playbook will be nominated for, oh, 6-8 Oscars.

Depends on where Bill Murray gets slotted.

Spielberg movies usually don't get you acting Oscars. The director's the star.

I watched it. Jones is good, as I expected, and I really like looking at Sienna Miller.
But the movie left me flat. I expected more.
In a way it reminded me of 'Cinema Verite.' I don't know how you can take such an interesting topic and render it so bleh.

The history nerd in me gets goosebumps when I see that Lincoln trailer. Then I realize that I'll pick it apart for historical inaccuracies and it won't be any fun. And that will be my own fault.

I plan to shut my brian off before I go in and will try to fully enjoy it...only when I get home will I nit-pick it to death! LOL

I expect 'Lincoln' to be entertaining but messily inaccurate.

Pi just looks visually stunning, from the trailer. I don't see many movies in the theater, but this one begs to be seen on a big screen.

I really enjoyed 'Life of Pi' as a book. It was optioned a long time ago. Seems to me it has taken a long time to get to the screen.

Whatever happened to 'Geek Love.' That was optioned for a movie, too.

I watched some extended clips that I was given by Disney at work today from Wreck It Ralph and from the 10 minutes or so that I saw, it looks to me to be the funniest movie of the year, and maybe the most touching animated movie ever that's not made by Pixar.
