Does it not follow the book, TV?

Not that I've, uh, read any of those...

I thought they did a hell of a job with Skyfall. A lot of nice nods to the 50th anniversary, some actually touching moments and the cinematography by Deakins was amazing.

I haven't read the books. I'm told the shocker ending has nothing to do with the book.

  4. Saw the second Breaking Dawn, too.

The CGI child creeped me the fuck out. Still is creeping me out.

The good: Michael Sheen is kind of a campy badass. He's so over-the-top that you can't help but love his performance. I even told my girlfriend that if they made a movie with just that character I'd probably watch it.

Skyfall was great. I was going to see Lincoln this weekend but may just wait for the DVD, seeing how the whole theater experience went for him.

Saw Skyfall tonight. Will have a long-winded, nerdy dissection when its not 3:30 a.m.

I will quickly say that the cinematography was out of this world. Definitely the best looking Bond film and one of the best-looking movies I've seen period. Glad I saw it on the big screen.

"Ed Wood." Had seen it before but watched it again, twice, in the past two days. Just a kick to watch Martin Landau pull off Bela Lugosi.

I guess it was a couple of weeks ago, but one of the movie channels ran a mini-marathon of old Holmes flicks with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.

Favorites include "The Hound of the Baskervilles," ("Watson, the needle.) "Terror By Nght" and "Dressed to Kill." Not a big fan of "A Woman in Green." Recorded it, though, and will give it a second look.

We saw Skyfall and Lincoln in the past week. I think Skyfall was probably the best of the Danile Craig Bond movies, plenty of action and I did like Javier Bardem as the villain and small spoiler:

When he took his teeth out was pretty creepy.
But Skyfall showed Bond as vulnerable, hopped up on painkillers and booze before he hears the call again for Queen and Country. Also liked the relationship between Bond and M, a mutual respect for each other. There were some clichés (just changing cArs, what do you expect, an exploding pen), but very enjoyable.

Daniel Day-Lewis does a very good job in Lincoln (not that we can know for sure, but he does have Lincoln's high-pitched voice and propensity for jokes). Tommy Lee Jones is also terrific as chairman of the House Wags and Means Committee. Terrific film overall, but you should have an understanding of why the 13th amendment was so important when there were peace overtures being offered (all takes place in the last four months of the Civil War).

Watched "Kill the Irishman" late Saturday night on Encore. Some of the performances seem phoned in from "Goodfellas," but the lead character is fascinating.

I took my daughter to see Wreck It Ralph, enjoyable but not real funny. I wasn't bored and she loved it.

I know I'm late to the party but just saw "Argo." Thoroughly enjoyed it and it brought back memories for someone who has pretty strong memories of the whole thing since I was in my 20s when the crisis actually happened.

I loved the clothes, glasses, cars, phones, etc. It amazes me how movies can get that stuff right. Where do they find those props?

Some great cameos. Adrienne Barbeau. The guy who starred in "Then Came Bronson" on NBC in the 70s (Van Dyke Parks?). Brief walk-on shot from one of the squints in "Bones," as a space character.

President Carter sounded very old in the closing voiceover. Makes me feel old as well.
