I have a few specific thoughts on the ending, but I'll wait a while longer to avoid spoilers.

"Breaking Dawn: Part 2, Electric Boogaloo": It wasn't the worst of the series, but the "surprise" at the end left me, uh, cold as a vampire. Really felt like a copout.

I will say that some interesting new vampire characters, from various parts of the world, are introduced in this movie, but like earlier in the series, their potentially interesting stories are brushed aside for more brooding by Bella, Edward and their lap dog, Jacob.

Not sure how much it varied from the book.

The "surprise" was fashioned from whole cloth, as I understand it. I liked the line one of the reviewers on WGN's late-night radio dropped that "about midway through, the movie turns into X-Men" with all the new supercreatures.

As for me - haven't seen a single one of them and don't intend to start now.

Original "Red Dawn" on Amazon. I forgot how brutal (massacre of innocent people in firing squad and dumped in pit) it could be for an 11 yr old (I kept telling my boys its no different than a written story. Great cast, Swayze, Lea Thompson, Erin Grey, C. Thomas Howell, Charlie Sheen, Harry Dean Stanton. WOLVERINES!!!

Saw Skyfall. It was decent, but it definitely dragged a bit. It didn't feel "big" enough, if that makes any sense. In the end, Bond wasn't really trying to save the world, he was trying to save one person.

Gone With the Wind was on AMC yesterday.

Still amazing, Timeless. Every performance is excellent. No one mailed it in. Vivien Leigh is smolderingly stunningly beautiful throughout.

Saw Skyfall last night. The villain's schemes were great. The villain himself left me cold. His introduction reminded me of the Architect in Matrix Reloaded: "OK, OK . . . I need to make a 10-minute speech now explaining everything . . . OK, you got all that? Now back to the action! Whooo!!!!"

Good movie, probably top five Bond all-time, definitely top 10. But the ranks of truly great Bond movies aren't exactly swelling.

Rented Catfish the other night on Amazon. Came away mildly surprised those two brothers didn't get shot, just showing up at two residences unannounced. The whole thing is pretty sad.

The best part of Catfish is toward the end when they interviewed the husband -- poignant.

To me, it was like, well, we need to name it something, so let's talk to Vince. It is an interesting commentary on the digital world.

Saw Life of Pi. I almost didn't go because based on what I'd read about it I wasn't sure I'd like it. It's also just over 2 hours and I'm usually way ready to leave the theater long before that.

Loved it. I was completely hooked by the story.

I did not read the book so can't compare. I saw it in 3-D but I don't think the movie would lose anything if you didn't see it that way.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter wasn't bad for Netflix fare. Dominic Cooper is a really cool actor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a stunning beauty. Plus, Jefferson Davis was played by the library guy from Ghostbusters.
