Saw it last night. Implausible but enjoyable.

    "Lincoln."

I don't get the love. It was an excellent movie, but I didn't think it was overly fantastic or anything like that.

The actor playing Tad drove me nuts, and I couldn't help but notice anytime they could film DDL in profile, they did it. It was almost comical, especially in the MT "breakdown" scene.

Tommy Lee Jones is looking really, really haggard. And he started out ahead of the pack in that one.

And Kelly Leak being the No. 2 Rebel guy was really bizarre.

Just saw the Spider Man remake.
    Not good.
I liked the Raimi version. Didn't like this one at all.

Watched School of Rock on demand yesterday. Not generally a Jack Black fan, but this movie was fun.

Very much so. Even cooler when you realize the kids actually played their own instruments.

My buddy who works in the movie industry and is the most knowledgable movie guy I know...saw Les Miserables this weekend and promptly proclaimed it the best movie he's seen in 25 years.

Trust me, that is incredible praise from this guy.

I want to be excited for this, but the singing I've heard from Jackman, Hathaway, and Crowe leaves me cold.

Here's the ground-breaking way that they recorded it:

    Lincoln. Loved it.

Great bit portrayals by about two dozen recognizable names/faces. James Spader, John Hawkes and Tim Blake Nelson were excellent as the lobbyists trying to round up the necessary votes to pass the 13th Amendment.

    And Daniel Day-Lewis WAS Lincoln.

A little heavy-handed at times, sure. But that's Spielberg, and quite frankly, the subject matter warrants it.

Didn't enjoy it quite as much as Argo, but it was really, really, really good.

I've watched that multiple times, and other trailers of it. I'm well aware of the way they filmed it. I think it looks awesome. The singing still leaves me cold.

Watched "The Vow" as a concession to wifey. Boy was that painful from a husband's POV. Rejection after rejection; really hard to fathom sticking through all of those. Good news; my penance was rewarded later :)

    "Sound of My Voice."

Some flaws - not fleshed out enough, basically, and some WTF scenes that don't seem to fit the whole - but well worth the time. It's the same writer-actress from "Another Earth." In the age of overstuffed sci-fi action blockbusters, it seems that there is this movement in the indie world to make low-budget, emotionally resonant science fiction. I'm glad.
