    I mentioned that movie, aso.
I really liked it, but the ending was bad.

I thought the ending was okay, Buck.

Lawless. Very disappointing. Extremely slow-then bursts of extreme violence--then extremely slow etc. Gary Oldman was completely wasted in a small role, Guy Pearce (who I like a lot) had a cartoonish role and not even the luminous Jessica Chastain could save it.

Just saw Killing Them Softly. It's OK, but really heavy-handed. Some crackling dialogue at times, but the story pretty much goes nowhere, and the overall theme is apparently about how the banks and the corporations fuck us all over...but that message is pretty muddied.

I'd suggest seeing it on DVD but don't shell out too much for the theater.

After watching these clips, I am comfortable saying I will dislike every second of the movie in which Crowe sings: http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/12/01/les-miserables-five-clips/. The part they show isn't even that difficult, and he doesn't sound good at all.

Saw "Flight," which was waaayyy better than I thought it would be. A bit long though. Do filmmakers still employ editors? Anyway, glad I'm not getting on a plane anytime soon.

Yeah, wow, that movie is definitely not my thing. Pass.

I really like Crowe - I think he sounds exactly like a Javert should. These clips have really got me excited to see this although I have reservations about Seyfried's singing in the clip released here.

    The Lawless.

I must admit that I did not watch the whole thing.

    Love Actually

I hate romcoms and I don't even know when I last saw one. Anyway, the situation arose and I watched. It was as heavy-handed as I figured and I was rolling my eyes, but I made it through. Some decent lines about love and relationships which most of us can relate to, and the first few minutes with the narrator discussing love was nice. But, yeah, I just don't like romcoms.

If you end it with the book tour, it's an allegory about the inherent narcissism of the creative process and about how the artist loses control of the creation, which takes on life and meaning of its own, regardless of the artist's intent, once it is embraced by an audience.

With the ending they put on it, it turns back into a weird romantic comedy with a sappy ending.

    Saw 'Life of Pi' yesterday.

Liked it very much, but I wish we hadn't seen it in 3D.
I think if we hadn't seen it in 3D I would have loved it. The 3D is distracting and unnecessary.
