That was Tom Hardy. He was new to me too, but I don't watch the movies he does ... like Inception, Dark Knight Rises and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He's had a pretty big two years.

But yeah, he stole the movie. Even though my weird crush on Shia wouldn't totally let him steal the whole thing.

I thought Shia was really good in that movie. Way better than I figured he'd be for some reason. Just a shitload of great performances all around.

Jason Clarke. They're both in Zero Dark Thirty, by the way.

I liked Lawless, too. I did think Guy Pearce was a little over the top. They were going for a Wolcott in Deadwood vibe with that character and overshot it.

Agreed. Pearce was too much. It wasn't even rooting against a character, like you should any villain, but rooting for him to never appear again.

Yeah. I meant Tom Hardy, not Clarke. Clarke really didn't do much. It's like he was barely there.

Gotcha. Hardy is pretty well-known, so I thought you meant the other guy.

I agree Clarke wasn't given much to do, other than that one scene where he comes running out of the bar and jumps the two cops. He's apparently outstanding in Zero Dark Thirty from what I've read.

That's the first time I remember seeing Hardy in a movie. I'll now consider seeing some of his others. Except Inception. Fuck that movie.

ZDT is opening.....this week? Or next?

Limited release was Dec. 19 so it could be eligible for the Oscars, but the nationwide release is Jan. 11.

    Hardy was great in Warrior.

  10. This ...
    Pearce was way too much.
Lawless was good. But not great.

Killer Joe is a seriously fucked up movie that seemed to go further than it needed just for the sake of doing so...

The Hobbit in 3D. Action scenes were fun but way too long and just way too obvious ending to a sequel. Come on, you can do better than that.

Kid had some project so we fired up Independence Day; that movie is still not bad these days. Excellent first 1/2; I always love the creepiness of an alien flick.
