Friends with Kids. Some pretty funny scenes. Jon Hamm does a wicked turn as an unhappy father/husband.

"Hanna," in keeping with my current desire to watch kick-ass action flicks I'd missed.

    Pretty good.

    It Happened One Night.

79 years later it's still remarkable. Gable and Colbert are perfect. I'd never want a remake of this but it's hard to look at Gable and not envision Brad Pitt. Not quite sure who would play the brat but she'd have to be strong and independent yet vulnerable like Colbert. The newspaper life as a binding character is fun to watch too.

A high school classmate of mine claimed to know Iron Eyes Cody, and we didn't take her seriously. She was probably telling the truth.

    "Smoke Signals" is outstanding.

That is one of my all-time favorites. No way would I be interested in a remake.

On Buck's suggestion, I saw Powwow Highway. It was very similar to Smoke Signals, and I liked it more. Definitely not plausible, but I enjoyed it.

    Gangster Squad. Meh.

I'd seen the clips so many times I sorta felt like I was watching a rerun. Sean Penn was pretty good, but the script lacked panache.

    Probably Jessica Chastain.

    The Paperboy.

Pretty good. Nicole Kidman proving yet again she can really act (and is also deserving of the award she recently received from some wag, "actress most in need of a new agent.").

It's a good character piece, but the story pretty much goes no where.

    "Bourne Legacy"

Can someone explain to me the plot? I can't say I followed it at all. I would not make a good spy.

  10. Dark Night Rises.
I don't get the dislike for this movie.

I thought it was the best of the reboot trilogy. Was it too long? Yes.
    Was it depressing? Yes.
Were there some plot holes? Yeah.
But I thought it was the best of the three.

I liked the characters - except Selena Kyle and Batman's interaction with her. I liked the twist at the end. I didn't see it coming until it was almost upon me.
I think the Dark Knight series is better then the Spider Man movies, including the reboot.

    Next up: Pitch Perfect.

We watched Looper the other night, which I thought was pretty good. Kinda dragged for about 20 minutes in the middle, but I enjoyed the ending.
