Thank you. Very few movies should have these long run times.
I'm not sure if it's lazy editing or the director's over-developed sense of his movie's importance or the studio exec.'s figuring they've paid for the footage so they might as well include it.
At least the third reason makes sense.

Anyway, stop with the long movies already.

  2. I couldn't agree more on the long movie thing. It seems to be an epidemic here of late. The Hobbit, Skyfall, Django, ZDT, Lincoln, the list goes on and on. 2:30 plus on all of em, I believe.

Movie theaters hate it. The long movies are costing them a ton of money because it limits showings.

February's Friday night movies in my apartment complex are an Academy Award retrospective. I finally saw "Casablanca" last week. Tonight is "On the Waterfront."

Wreck-It-Ralph - I went in thinking this was a heartfelt tribute to old video games. It's more about candy than anything else. I know I'm not the target audience, but the filmmakers dropped the ball. I wish they spent the whole film visiting real old video game worlds. Instead they only visit one - Rootbeer Tapper.

"The Station Agent." Nicely understated performances all around and a couple genuine chuckles.

The Station Agent is a movie I can watch once or twice a year, which is very rare for me.

I've been trying to convince JR to watch "The Station Agent" which I bought on DVD some time ago. Maybe he'll listen to you guys. :D

    "Dark Horse"

Todd Solondz creates a depressive dreamscape better than anyone. Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse are two favorites from the 1990s, and Dark Horse is in that discussion for me. I love being disoriented by a film, and Dark Horse is definitely disorienting.

The Master - All the components of this film are great except the story. Just a real chore to get through.

Finally saw 'Argo, at the late-run theater.
    Quite good.

I felt ripped off by this movie. Agree on the father-son, Tuskeegee legacy dynamic that was not there.

Goodman sucked, same type of Big Lebowski type character, over the top, not believable.

Called the ending as soon in the theatre as soon as I realized what the movie was going to be about, shitty redmption that was totally unbelievable.

No credit given to an audience. No subtlety or nuance, everything was spelled out and the audience beat over the head.

The more I think about it, the more that movie pisses me off.
