I loved it as well. Not many movies stay with you after the credits roll and this one certainly did for me.

I loved its treatment of religion. I thought it was, I don't know, sensitive. I liked the idea that all religions are spokes on the same wheel - a different way of telling the same story in a way that is more palatable to the person telling it.

Pi's quote "And so it goes with God" really sums up the theme of the film well. And it was a gorgeous movie, even if it looked "fake." I thought there was real artistry in every visual.

Ang Lee is just great. This and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon are two films that have stayed and will stay with me for a long time.

Life of Pi and Moonrise Kingdom were my two favorite movies of the year. Pi was a great story about the power of stories and how people use them, especially when they are faced with situations where they are either don't know the truth or the the truth is too gruesome to deal with.

My only issue with it was I felt they explained too much at the end and basically held the hands of the audience to lead them through what we should take from the movie, and the story Pi had told.

I saw the "Jurassic Park" re-release in 3-D IMAX. They did great work in making a legit 3-D out of this. It hasn't been like the Disney 3-D re-releases, where they just add a little perspective to a few scenes in "The Lion King" and call it 3-D.

It's hard to remember now how ground-breaking and brilliant the use of CGI was in "Jurassic Park," especially because people took the wrong lesson from it. Instead of using it for good, it became something for hacks to rely on to substitute for actually having a script. But I guess every innovation eventually gets reduced to the likes of "Birdemic."

I also saw it at IMax and it was like seeing it again for the first time. Incredibly intense thanks to the strong 3D conversion and incredible sound. The special effects really hold up well 20 years later, especially the T-Rex and the raptors.

The 3D got a little blurry at times, but for the most part, I thought it genuinely added to many of the scenes (the T-Rex attack was amazing). The pacing in that movie is so great. Really a fun experience to see it that way.

    "Wreck-It Ralph."

Cute concept that was overplotted to within an inch of its life.

I was looking forward to it and was disappointed as well.

  8. You guys talked me into it. I went to the theatre last week with full intent to see it on 3D IMAX but I couldn't talk myself into spending $12.50 to do it and opted for the $7 viewing of 42 instead. I need to go check it out soon. I think it will be out of the theatre pretty soon if I don't.

I'm the complete opposite on 'Jurassic Park.' Take away how ground-breaking the CGI was at the time, and you have loud, bad movie.

I won't pay to see it again.

By the way, I loved the book.

Ran an interesting interview with Spielberg from the JP 3D EPK on my show in which he explained that he shot the movie in 3D "in my head." He explained that he composed many of the shots to have a depth of field, like the dinos running across the field...but also the dinos breaking into the buildings and roaming into the rooms were also shot with a depth that was uncommon for the period.

But, he said, he never thought it would actually be seen in 3D...until he saw Titanic in 3D and he said, "I knew that I had to do it and that Jurassic Park would look great with the new technology."

Must be the expectations thing. I was pretty "meh" about seeing it and enjoyed it. Wouldn't buy it or anything but I liked it far more than some of the other stuff I've gotten from Netflix lately.

I do like John C. Reilly, though.

I liked Wreck-It Ralph, but my 3-year-old son hated it. He said "it insists upon itself."
