Last movie you watched......

  1. Maybe I'm just desensitized to Tarantino's brand of violence but I thought Django was extra cartoonish and over the top. There were a couple of mildly cringe worthy pieces but for the most part I found it so silly that it wasn't hard to watch.

The only time I closed my eyes was during the dog scene.

The shootout scenes were too over the top to take seriously.

As a side note, One Minute is one of my favorite episodes of television ever. So brilliant all the way through.

The first time I saw the ear scene from Reservoir Dogs was 1,000 times more disturbing for me than anything I saw in Django.

Lay the Favorite was decent. It starred the absolutely stunning Rebecca Hall in addition to Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta Jones and Vince Vaughn. From the makers of High Fidelity.

The shootouts in 'Django Unchained' were similar to the fight between the Bride and the Crazy 88s in 'Kill Bill Vol. 1.'
It's not graphic violence because it's not anything close to real. It's stylized to the point of being cartoonish.

Funny enough, there was a notable ear scene in the original Django.

Watched Tightrope, the 80s Clint Eastwood movie, just now.

A lot of his middle-career cop movies have aged poorly. Tightrope isn't bad though.

Just finished Argo. Good movie but I didn't enjoy it half as much as I did Django. I'm going to try to work my way through all nine of this year's Best Picture nominees but I doubt I'll enjoy any movie as much as I did Django. Admittedly, I'm a huge QT fan though so I might be a bit bias.

Lil 93 liked it, and that is the review that matters for me.

She did think the parts with the bugs were a little scary, but she really liked Ralph and the "Glitch."

The "gore" in Django Unchained was comical, not gross, horrifying, or disturbing. It was funny because of how over the top it was.

I laughed during that movie way more than I thought I would.

The Wayne White documentary "Beauty is Embarrassing"

He's such a fun figure and person. I'd heard of him from Pee Wee's Playhouse and the Smashing Pumpkins video, but I'd never seen his paintings. Just hilarious stuff.
