I saw "Mud" last night. It will be one of McConaughey's crowning glories. He, and the film, will have to be in the middle of Oscar discussion. The movie transports you into the swamp waters of Arkansas for 130 minutes. Every member of the cast (I thought Sam Shepard had left for the great beyond) fills their role perfectly.

I get your point about how well done it is, but when I first saw this post my first thought was "why the hell would anyone want to go to Arkansas swamp waters?

  3. Agreed with most of this but you were OK with the ending? I thought it was a really, really good movie until the end.

I saw Fast and Furious 6.

Fun movie. Obviously, we're in the guilty pleasure category and it's not exactly going to win any Oscars, but it's nice to see a movie give the viewers exactly what they want.

I liked it a lot better than Iron Man 3.

    The Iceman.

Gripping and disturbing. It didn't probe the psychology of Kuklinski as much as it could have, but the path it chose revealed the toll on anyone who got close to him -- especially his family.

Great observation earlier in the thread about the cars of the period, beginning with the 1960s and moving into the early 1980s. I recognized places in Shreveport and yet was still surprised to see the Strand Theatre marquee.

Incredibly, it's already grossed $327 million worldwide, including $130 million domestically. That's a pretty staggering number for the sixth film in a franchise that doesn't include characters named Skywalker or Potter.

Who would have thought we'd see a Will Smith movie fail to knock off a Fast and Furious movie at the box office on opening weekend? It appears likely Fast 6 will stay No. 1 this week against "After Earth."

The best thing about F&F6 is that so much of it was real-ish, no green screen or CGI.

For instance, the awesome flip car...

So far this week in the home theater department:

-Perks of Being a Wallflower (Maybe the best movie I've ever seen. Probably not, but up there. Just phenomenal).

-Safety Not Guaranteed (Also very good).

After Earth? Looks more like afterbirth.
