Saw an interesting documentary on Showtime: Knuckleball! Profiles Tim Wakefield and R.A. Dickey through 2011 seasons, touches on Wakefield's Feb. 2012 retirement ceremony. Solid work, would like to have seen it go a full 2 hours or maybe 2.5

A really underrated military/sea adventure with Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany. Highly enjoyable.

"Daybreakers," a vampire movie with Ethan Hawke. Some impressive world-building inside the movie, but the story could have been better. I kept waiting for vampire Julie Delpy to show up.

Kind of threadjumping, but Crowe in MOS reminded me of his M&C role.

Maybe it was just selective editing, but he came off very well in the action scenes.

Maybe the idea of a M&C sequel isn't that far-fetched.

This is the End last night. I laughed quite a bit, but I enjoy all of the actors FWIW.

Mud - I liked almost all of it.

  8. Saw Man of Steel today. I just didn't care for it. I didn't dislike it, per se, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. It was too sci-fi for me and I thought it got a bit convoluted by some of those sci-fi elements. It was also about 30 minutes too long. The climax lasts forever it seems and I didn't feel like the movie did enough to earn that type of grand finale.

Excellent special effects and the sound was great in IMAX. No real complaints about the cast. Not that it matter but did Amy Adams get pregnant during filming? She looked like she put on about 20 from the beginning of the movie to the end.

We watched 'This is the End' last night. What a stupid movie...and I mean that as a back-handed compliment. It's got some funny moments, but it's pretty crude and sophomoric. If you like dick jokes and gross-out humor (or even gross-out non-humor), this is for you.

That new Brad Pitt film looks like a piece of shit.

Saw "The Kids Are All Right" on HBO. Great job by Annette Benning and Julianne Moore, very honest and believable story/characters. And I'll say this for Julianne Moore - she fires off some hot on-screen sex if the script calls for it.

Saw Man of Steel yesterday. Frankly, I thought the Superman subject had been thoroughly done and thus had no intention of seeing it, but my daughter wanted to go, so I took her. I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, that one fight seen was probably too long, but all I was looking for was shit to get blown up and have some eye candy. This movie had both. I think it's ridiculous to quibble over plot points. There was enough plot to hold it together.

Re-watched Jack Reacher last night and thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around.
