I finally saw "This is the End"

Very funny. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think you do have to be familiar with that crew for it to be as funny as it was for me. A friend who saw it last week didn't know who Baruchel was and I think it may have hurt his enjoyment of it.

Michael Cera's part was just awesome... My favorite line from the regulars was, "Hi God, it's Jonah Hill... From Moneyball..." For some reason that just killed me...

I think the cameo would have been a little better if it was someone who wasn't linked to any of the main stars... It was still pretty great though...

I was waiting for them to make more jokes about Jonah Hill losing weight and then gaining it all back, but I guess there are some places they won't go...

I was concerned about anachronistic music in particular since that's something I really notice but there were just enough period 'touches' to make it work while capturing the full steam hedonistic party vibe of Gatsby's party. (I particularly liked that the love theme came back when Daisy and Gatsby dance at his party - same song and singer with a fox trot rhythm under it). I felt the film captured the excesses of the era and that the direct quotes from the novel were (to me) just the right ones - particularly the line about Tom and Daisy being careless people who smash things.

I'm not terribly articulate about this - it was just a feeling that the movie truly captured the sense of the novel.

There were a few Green Hornet jokes, one about Your Highness...

Supposedly there originally a line in there that someone said to McBride, "Why don't you go lick Will Ferrell's balls.." that was taken out. I guess you could argue that some might not get the reference, since McBride's link to Ferrell is mostly behind the scenes.

FInally got around to watching Flight. Man what a waste of time that one was. The script was pathetic; the ending was obvious from take-off, and the number of cliches were countless.

    Trouble with the Curve.

Pretty much every horrible baseball cliche can be found in this piece of crap. And some pretty bad acting by all, especially Justin Timberlake. He needs to give up this whole acting thing. He's not good.

Halfway through Battleship. I have no idea why I put this in my queue. I guess to look at Liam Neeson.

Loved this game. Never once thought, "gee, wish it were a movie!"

If I had, though, I wouldn't have wished for *this* movie. Am I supposed to care about any of the characters? They're miserable.

I watched Network last night. I thought I had seen it before, but no way have I ever watched the entire movie until last night. I enjoyed it a lot.

Today I went to Frances Ha. Aimless 20 somethings in New York can be annoying, but Frances was so goofy that I liked her anyway. The fact that the movie was under 1 1/2 hours helped, too.

    Just finished watching 10 Years.

Likable cast. I could watch Rosario Dawson and/or Kate Mara in just about anything.

Saw World War Z last night. Not great but a solidly enjoyable action flick.

According to a recent Vanity Fair article, they had to shoot a whole new ending (complete with a dramatic plane crash) after the first - wildly expensive ending - died on screen. Surprisingly, this didn't play as a troubled film. Editing was completely smooth and I couldn't see any jagged edges where the old ending would have been.
