Watched The Call over the weekend. I thought it was really good. All those scenes with the girl in the trunk, though....ugh. I can't imagine being locked in a car trunk. Agony. Hopefully, I'd pass out quickly from the panic attack.

We took little OOP to Monsters University. She's a huge fan of the Monsters Inc, so she'd been very anxious too see it.

"Blue Umbrella" was cute. Not the best of their shorts, but a good one.

The Revenge of the Nerds comparison is a good one. Definitely lessons about teamwork and perseverance in there with enough funny moments to keep my little one entertained. She also caught most of the references to the first movie, though you definitely didn't need to see it to get any part of this one.

Saw World War Z on Friday and Man of Steel on Sunday. I went into both blind, outside of knowing a small portion of Superman's back story and from what I'd seen in the commercials.

Both were outstanding. World War Z was better.

Very surprised how much I liked World War Z, had no expectations going in, except that there was a high probability of being left feeling underwhelmed. But it had from the start to finish. Very well done.

Man of Steel, while very good, just fucking dragged for long portions. I enjoyed it -- a couple of scenes were even shot near where I live now -- but I have a sneaking feeling that this is going to hit me like the Dark Knight trilogy, where it didn't go down near as well in second and third viewings, especially on DVD where I am removed from the 3D and the over the top special effects. I like the concept for it, and I know as a launching movie a lot of foundation has to be laid, so we'll see how it advances.

I took my niece and nephew (4 and 6 years old) and they liked Monsters U., but weren't bowled over by it. I loved it. I get the feeling that it worked better for parents and adults because of the college angle. They nailed the experience, even in a Monsters universe.

I even like it better than the original Monsters, Inc., which I'm sure is some sort of Pixar blasphemy. It surely wasn't one of Pixar's more ambitious efforts, but I thought it was great and that the prequel worked better than a sequel would've worked.

So the wife and I are doing Classic Movie Saturday next weekend. We're probably going to rent 3 classic we've never seen (some more embarrassing than others) and spend the evening on the couch.

Here's the list we've come up with so far. Please add or remove as you see fit. I am, by no means, an expert on classic movies. Huge blind spot for me.

    Apocalypse Now
    The Deer Hunter
    Godfather II
Cool Hand Luke (I've seen this, the wife has not)
    12 Angry Men
    Rosemary's Baby
    Streetcar Named Desire
    Dawn of the Dead
    Raging Bull
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

What am I missing? Which three would you choose?

How can we add if we don't know what you've seen?

Good point. I suppose you have to blindly add. Chances are, though, I haven't seen it.

My initial three (which will almost certainly change) were those first two and Apocalypse Now.

Cuckoo's Nest (you'll never forget the characters)
12 Angry Men (simple yet powerful)
Rosemary's Baby (I don't even know if I consider it good but it's worth watching once)
