    This is the End.

7 out of 10. Some funny lines. Some really funny lines. Plot was pretty stupid, but we all knew that going in.

Got a Fandango gift card as a wedding gift.

Driving 45 miles-ish tomorrow to watch Despicable Me 2. Bad side is the drive. Good side is the movie is essentially free (gift card) and at a really nice cinema. We have one independent theater in town and it is shit.

    Doesn't accept Fandango either.

Big Fan. Probably the most awkward phone scenes I've seen since Swingers.

    Trouble with the Curve.

Not great, but entertaining enough. I bet Moddy would love Eastwood's character.

To add to the classic movies list: I'm not necessarily a big fan of musicals, but I love Singin' in the Rain.

From your list, I'd go with 12 Angry Men, Godfather II and Cuckoo's Nest.

I love The Deer Hunter, but I think the Vietnam scenes would be a bit intense, at least for my wife.

Not necessarily. Lot's of women love that movie - me included. If you ever want to try a classic movie musical my vote is for "An American in Paris". Gene Kelly dancing and singing to the music of Gershwin? It doesn't get any better than that. :)

    Try those.

And if you're gonna do a Vietnam-era movie with the wife, Coming Home and Born on the Fourth of July are excellent. The Killing Fields, though not about Vietnam, is equally good.

Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter are, in their own ways, terrific. I'd put them among my top 100 favorite films, in fact. But they are also brutal and more about "filmmaking" than the subjects they intend to explore.

Thanks, Songbird, for the tip of watching movies on Youtube. Never would have occurred to me to search.

Copied your "12 Angry Men" tip and am now on "Swimming to Cambodia."

Saw the documentary "20 Steps From Stardom." It's about backup music singers. Outstanding, 2 thumbs up.

Find "Hopscotch," a Walter Matthau tour de force.
An underrated spy-comedy classic. Dumped agent gets some payback.

Off the list: Cool Hand Luke, Godfather II.
