Was this on HBO or something? You're now the fourth person I know of who saw that this weekend for the first time. Or did you and Rhody31 watch it together? :D

I thought it went much deeper than just being a goof on sports fans and went after an entire generation of men who have never grown up and who medicate that psychological impairment with an obsession. It just happened to be sports in this movie. It would've worked with almost any obsessive behavior.

It has been running on HBO. I know because each time my little one stumbles on it, we end up having to watch part of the damn thing again.

    Simple solution ...

    Son/daughter: Yeah, 'Pitch Perfect'!
Father: Be gone, child! The adults will decide what to watch. Go play video games and consume high fructose corn syrup.

    Saw White House Down...

Olympus Has Fallen was much better, but it was still a solid guilty pleasure/popcorn movie.

Saw the double feature at the drive-in last night. Despicable Me 2 and World War Z.

Liked them both, especially Despicable Me 2. WWZ was fine, but the ending was kinda "bleh" to me. I mean, without spoiling anything, the monologue makes sense, but I dunnooooooo.

    Picnic, d. Joshua Logan

Shifty drifter comes into town for Labor Day picnic because his old college buddy has a rich dad; drifter sends half the women, including old college buddy's girlfriend, into a swoon. I could easily see this remade. The original's pretty good with William Holden in the lead, although drifters tend to come around a lot less often with a much longer rap sheet these days.

Despicable Me will churn out at least two more movies. Gru is Shrek now. DM2 will approach 300 million domestic, rare air for animation (only 5 films have crossed the line).

There is already a prequel, "Minions," scheduled for a Christmas-time 2014 release.

I'm still curious about how they came up with the movie's title, "Despicable Me." I can't seem to find that information anywhere.

The idea for the minions movie is brilliant.

How can we make another movie without having to pay Steve Carell a truckload of money?

I saw the Lone Ranger. I didn't think it was terrible, but it was too long and a bit boring.

I don't think it's any worse than some of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, but those were monster hits while this is considered one of the biggest bombs in quite some time.

Lone Ranger wasn't particularly kid-friendly, but I didn't really think Pirates was either.

I think a lot of it came down to the bad buzz about Lone Ranger, which has seemed to be out there since they started filming.
