American Hustle - Good lord hire a competent editor for chrissakes. Over-the-top soundrack whoring was off-putting. It could not decide if it was a love story or a crime caper. Makes the much leaner Argo look like a masterpiece.

In a theater -- Saving Mr. Banks
On DVD - Sound of Music (my 5-year-old loves the music, but with it being a 3-hour movie we break it up into two viewings)

Ugh, I must not want to sleep because I watched this at night and the last two stories scared the shit out of me. First two stories and the bookend story were lame.

It was good. Not something I would want to watch again. The reveal at the end was hard to stomach.

I was unclear on one thing: Did his mother have a suicide attempt? That was her at the table crying in the repeated flashback, right?

Watched "The Talented Mr. Ripley" last night and was surprised to learn that JR had never seen it. Excellent movie with some terrific performances.

  8. "A Lonely Place to Die"
English flick about mountain climbers who find a girl buried in a shallow grave.
    Cold violence.
    Good movie. With a not-so-happy-ending.

Been cleaning off my DVR because I'm about to move, and finally watched "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy."

I have no idea what the hell was going on, even after reading the plot summary on Wikipedia.

The Wolverine. Pretty good and much better than the previous Wolverine movie.

Felt the same about the book. Wanted so much to like it. Just gave up
and decided that I did not have the gene or IQ to understand Le Carre.
