Unsure if the link works or not, but, spoiler alert, this should be the ending scene from Phillips where Hanks does this amazing work.

    "Dark Knight Rises," finally.

I still like "Batman Begins" best of all.

Saw the Wolf Of Wall Street over the weekend. It was good, but way too long.
I've seen four of the nine Oscar nominees so far - Wolf, Gravity, American Hustle and Dallas Buyer's Club. Of those four, DBC is easily the best and I liked all four movies very much.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. The plot doesn't break any ground, but the movie does a decent job of showing how Ryan came to be. It sounds like this movie came together over a couple of months, but there is supposed to be a second movie. I'd suggest an adaptation of Cardinal of the Kremlin in some form.
Part of it might just be that so much of spying and warfare is very much technology-based. But hacking computers just doesn't make for compelling movie watching.

Not much of a moviegoer, but I've made up for it in the past month. Dallas Buyers Club is tremendous. Walked out of Anchorman 2. Just awful. Saving Mr. Banks dragged, but Emma Thompson was great. Out of the Furnace ... Christian Bale and Casey Affleck were both terrific.

I just love the consistency of a trilogy told by one team of filmmakers, like Back to the Future. It's more satisfying to see a whole vision rather than have a franchise with mercenary directors who come and go.

It works, but you can also do a search for it on YouTube.

Just watched 'Blue Jasmine.' Pretty good. Blanchett is great. She manages to make an unlikable character both compelling and sympathetic.

Did the "Blue Jasmine" and "Captain Phillips" double feature this weekend.

Blue Jasmine was a fairly compelling portrayal of how someone could end up with a nervous breakdown. Only downside is, coming from my background, hard to work up too much sympathy for someone who had those riches.

Captain Phillips was amazing. Great storyline. Frankly, never though about it from the Somali pirates' side, the script did a very nice job of showing us the other side. Yeah, I get Hanks fatigue but boy was he good (better than Forrest Gump at least). The lead Somali pirate though, that guy was fantastic.

We saw Her in the theater this weekend because American Hustle was sold out. Her was okay, but my opinion is totally tainted by the disappointment of not getting to see American Hustle. Plus, I kept thinking "There's no way this is a better movie than Blue Jasmine (in terms of receiving an Oscar nomination)."

"Mitt" on Netflix. Provided a little human element to him and a ton of inside baseball along the campaign trail from the end of '08 and all of '12. I think they should have included the binders full of women remark from the second debate but they did include the semantic showdown he and Obama had over "act of terror" and "terrorist act."

He's a fastidious fellow and there are a few times his fierceness and tenacity shines through, especially on the set of the New Hampshire GOP debate, when he didn't like what he felt were last-minute changes to the format.

There was also a moment very early in the piece, circa '06, when the family is frolicking in the snow. His daughter asked why he wasn't wearing the new snow gloves she bought him and he holds up his hands and says that the taped-up gloves he's wearing are nice and worn in -- and serve their function.

I would love to see some of the stuff they left on the cutting floor.

I took my 6 year old daughter to see Frozen on a play hookie from work afternoon. We both really liked it. I especially like the twist on "the one act of true love". Great songs as well.
