Her - I know I was supposed to extract something else out of this but it came off like a prequel to Battlestar Galactica. It felt like the Cylons were mining humans to develop emotional traits.

  2. I agree with those that liked Adams better than Lawrence in Hustle. I was annoyed with Lawrence's turn in Hustle, which I suppose you could argue was the point of her character but I thought she was too over the top.

Unrelated, I caught the new Liam Neeson movie "Non Stop." First of all, I was stunned at how crowded the theatre was, had to be darn close to a sell out (earlier today). I guess there are others who enjoy the mindless entertainment of a Liam Neeson action movie. It was pretty much what you'd expect but did a good job of trying to keep you guessing. Nothing spectacular but a decent way to kill a couple hours.

I saw Gravity last night and I'm so mad I missed it in IMAX. What a visually stunning movie. I've only seen Gravity, Captain Philips and Dallas Buyers Club among the Best Picture nominees, but I thought Gravity was the best of the three.

A 13-minute shot to start the movie and the filmmaking just kept getting better from there. Bullock was excellent and the story was gripping. I really enjoyed it.

I was underwhelmed by Gravity, members and moderators.
Aside from being boring for chunks of time, its science is quite terrible.

Agreed. Thought it was shot nicely. Visually stunning.

  7. Wolverine .. meh. Not the worst, but not as good as the comic book storyline. It was pretty slow paced as well.

Ron White - A Little Unprofessional ... Loved him in Blue Collar Comedy. Saw some of his later acts and he no longer appeals to me. It's him - talking about him; being rich and famous and having a great life with a lot of snide remarks.
This was more of the same, only a crappy dog act at the end.

Nick DiPaolo Raw Nerve Lots of bombs and just unfunny crap ... Stick to one-liners and TruTV ...

    Over the weekend:
Watched The Impossible on Showtime. Holy smokes what a gut-wrenching experience.
Watched The Counselor on demand. With that cast I was really hoping for more. The pace was simply way too slow for me.

I like my sci-fi movies to be able to adequately suspend disbelief.
If you're not going to adhere to the laws of physics, don't make a sci-fi flick.
Go make Fast and Furious XIII or however many they're up to now.

The Impossible was incredibly well done and, as you noted, gut-wrenching. It hits pretty close to home to me because I was in Thailand where the tsunami hit a few weeks before it happened. Now that I have a son, I also tend to view films like this a little differently, so this was a tough one to watch.
