"Killer Joe," which others have referenced here. Holy cow.

Was planning to watch 'Budapest Hotel' this Friday night.
Just found out that Regal has changed its plan and the movie will not open in my town.

A friend loaned me the "Melancholia" DVD, and it was awesome.

I know some folks here really hated it, but if you watch it as a sci-fi movie in the "2001" vein, it's very entertaining.

The low-key, mental-health aspect of how the characters deal with the end of the world was a unique take on that scenario. And comparing/contrasting a wedding with the collision of two planets was another interesting part of the movie.

Melancholia would've been great if cut in half as the apocalyptic half. As a whole though, it sucked (and so did 2001: A Space Odyssey).

Just watched The Producers - Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick - again - love it. I could probably watch that movie every day. Hilarious.

Ditto. RonClements, it's OK to say you hated 2001, but its place in movie history is secure for the technical effects. No CGI in 1968 and in fact the movie didn't even anticipate its invention by 2001.

I guess I remembered correctly that there weren't many Melancholia fans here. Different strokes ...

And I realized not everyone dug Kubrick's masterpiece when I was in high school, and a girl I liked suggested we watch one of each other's favorite movies.

After sitting through Pretty in Pink, I threw "2001: A Space Odyssey" into the VCR.

Yeah, I was a real smooth operator back in the day ... ;)

A good thing for you, sir, that duels are no longer in fashion. I would have to call you out for that.

    Epix Drive-In strikes again.

The Libertine, not the Johnny Depp horseshit, but a late 60s Italian sex comedy with the very lovely and often naked Catherine Spaak who is ON A JOURNEY OF SEXUAL SELF-DISCOVERY.

Jean-Louis Trintigant is in it too if you know your Euro movies.

They don't make 'em like this anymore. In America, they never made 'em like this ever.

Wish I had the soundtrack. But then, I wish I had the soundtracks of lots of 60s/70s Italian movies.

Melancholia is right there with Tarkovsky's Offret for my favorite apocalyptic movie. (This Is the End doesn't count, right?)

And I adore 2001, just for the record.
