My two latest were Machete and Machete Kills, from director Robert Rodriguez. Lots of decapitations and the like because, you know, Machete. The first one was really entertaining. The sequel, Machete Kills, was way too far-fetched in places.

    "Machete don't tweet."

Excellent film. A rebound for Von Trier after the last two.

Divergent, for those who can't get enough of the teenaged, dystopian futures.

She had read the book and wanted to see it.

Overly long as it dragged but it was well made even with the wooden dialogue.

Make her happy but see it at the matinee or when it hits the dollar theater.

Recorded and watched 42. It was fine, but I expected better from all the reaction I'd heard when it came out. Just seemed like the movie told the story in a very matter-of-fact (meaning "dull") way.

Watched both Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyer's Club in the past few days. I understand now why McConaughey beat Leo for the Oscar but, man, those were two inspired performances.
    I loved both flicks immensely.
Of the three Best Picture nominees I've seen thus far:

    1.) Dallas Buyer's Club
    2.) Wolf of Wall Street
    3.) Captain Phillips

I'm hoping to see Gravity, 12 Years and American Hustle soon. Had rented Nebraska a week or so ago and never got around to watching it but I will eventually. A great slate of movies this year, that's for sure. I'm glad they expanded the category to more than (or is it over? right AP?) five.

    Dangerous Beauty, 1998.
Fictionalized story of Veronica Franco- one of the Venetian cortigiana onesta- upper-class courtesans of the 16th century.
Courtesans of her rank were expected to be "accomplished" in many of the ways young noblemen were.
She was well-read, astute in political matters and a published poet.
One of her many lovers included Henry III of France.

Finally got around to seeing "Silver Linings Playbook," and it was as good as advertised. I'm now to the point I'll give just about anything a chance if it has Jennifer Lawrence in it.

Gravity. I haven't been THIS disappointed in a movie in a long, long time. What a piece of shit.

I didn't hate it, but I'm much closer to this viewpoint than to those who love it. Visually it was absolutely great, and deserves the technical accolades. The script was not good.

If it wasn't a Best Picture nominee, and Sandra Bullock a Best Actress nominee, I could've just shrugged it off and been fine with it being more entertaining than staring at a wall for 90 minutes.

But my expectations were high. While it was fine visually, my disgusted eyerolls far outnumbered the times I was actually impressed.

Did you just watch it at home? I will say that this was definitely a movie that will lose quite a bit by not seeing it on the big screen. I saw in in IMAX and it was gorgeous.
