"Inside Llewyn Davis," the Coen brothers look at the life in the week of a folk singer in 1961 New York. Definitely NOT an uplifting movie by any means, but the music was cool (for folk) and Carey Mulligan is pretty sweet.

"Mud" with Matthew McConaughey. As my wife said, not much there for a woman. Pretty good flick, though.

  2. Get the Gringo.
Mel Gibson flick made when he was persona non grata.
No bad, sort of Payback (one of my all-time favorites) like movie. It was a solid flick.

This was a fun movie. Doesn't take itself too seriously - kind of in the same vein as Shoot 'Em Up, and yeah, totally reminiscent of Payback.

"It's the story about two pimps and wasn't no brothers in it? I don't know whether to say 'Thank you' or punch you in your mouth, man."

Carell plays duPont the wrestling coach who shot Olympic champion Dave Schultz dead. Looks good.

Watched Crash again today. Such a great movie. Powerful, complex film with strong performances.

Just saw the new X-Men yesterday. Love, love, loved it. Lots of action. But - to tap into a rapidly developing cliche - it definitely is one for the fanboys. Lots of mutants taken from the comics and thrown into the mix without being properly introduced or given names on screen.

Should be interesting to see how it does after the initial box office rush. Will people care they can't tell a Blink from a Bishop?

I sprang for 3D, turned my brain off, and enjoyed myself. It was better that I thought it would be.

Empire Falls. Newman, Ed Harris, Helen Hunt, Woodward, Fichtner, Farina, DeMunn, Estelle Parsons, Kate Burton, Robin Wright Penn and Phillp Seymour Hoffman, Aidan Quinn, Theresa Russell and Josh Lucas. It felt like a play, the writing was that good.

Yeah, but the effects for Blink's powers look damn cool. (I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've seen a clip from the opening scene online.)

Very happy to read something positive. The reviews I've seen so far were mixed. Been very excited to see this one, but I do know who Bishop, Blink, Sunspot and Warpath are.

And with that, I am running away from this thread until I see the movie so I can avoid spoilers.
