There are definitely some things that are convenient. Also, from an interview I read I know they relied on the concept of secondary mutations, but they never did explain that. Honestly, I didn't think it was a matter of continuity issues in this movie so much as not doing enough to fix the existing problems from the previous ones.

I'll echo what has been said about X-Men: Days of Future Past. While there were issues with past storylines fitting into this new movie, I think it also has the ability to sort of reboot the series. The after-credit scene was great and got me hyped. We definitely enjoyed it.

Forgot to post on here about it, but I saw Rush last week and really liked it. Enjoyed seeing the contrast in the personalities of Lauda and Hunt, and Hemsworth and Brule did a great job with them.

It spurred me the next night to watch the documentary Netflix had on that 1976 Formula I season, and I was pleased and a bit surprised how accurate the movie portrayed the events of that season, outside of the "feud" between Lauda and Hunt being a little exaggerated. Guess that kinda makes up for the way Howard portrayed Max Baer in "Cinderella Man."

I rewatched Rush last night and it's just as good the second time around. I really think it's one of the 10 best films of the year and deserved more recognition at the Oscars.

My take on the continuity issues in "Days of Future Past" from my blog at work (Spoilers ahead): http://www.tulsaworld.com/blogs/scene/prairienerds/x-men-days-of-future-past-weighed-down-by-plot/article_1c242121-e5bd-596b-9c59-3650089303ef.html

Valid points and I do think Days of Future Past can serve as a reset for the series.

Watched Bullet to the Head tonight - it was on HBO the other night and I recorded it.
Could've been a more fun shoot-em-up movie, but instead it was a shoot-em-up movie that took itself seriously. It tried to be this deep yet violent film, but instead was a movie full of Stallone one-liners while kicking a lot of ass. That I enjoyed, but I just wish it would've been more fun.

Saw Iron Man III tonight...yeah, yeah, I'm behind. Pretty good flick if you can get past what they did to the Mandarin. That part was pretty dumb.

Went to see Maleficent with Mrs. Novelist at a dine-in theatre this morning. She liked it. I came away ambivalent, but I will say that the last 45 minutes were better than the first 45 or so. Then again, the fantasy genre really isn't my cup of tea.

    Couple other thoughts:
Elle Fanning has a more radiant persona than Dakota.

i really liked the trio of pixies (despite my disinterest in fantasy)

Lots of scenes reminiscent of other movies that had nothing to do with Sleeping Beauty.

I think Dakota Fanning is an excellent actress. Super 8 convinced me Elle is better, and I mean that with all respect for Dakota's talent.
