Layoffs at Tonight Show, Leno takes pay cut

    In the early days of Letterman, Leno as a guest was must-watch TV. He would do stuff like bring out a book full of lame jokes he and Dave had written for Jimmie Walker, or something that was usually unexpected and hilarious.

    So, yeah, if you saw Leno at least 25-30 years ago, he was great.

    Ferguson is a really good interviewer when he doesn't get silly. When he has a high-profile guest -- Bishop Desmond Tutu, Julie Andrews, Ringo Starr, Michael Caine -- or some of the non-entertainers like scientists, etc., his show is great.
    But when he gets too silly, it isn't a good thing.

    Yup, his riffs going through the TV Guide were hilarious.

    A friend saw him recently in Atlantic City and said he does 10 minutes on Monica Lewinsky.

    It's good to know he's updating his act.

    I agree that right around the time he took over The Tonight Show, he was hilarious.

    He's just not anymore.
