And Junkie, you have repeatedly argued that Amaechi actively hid his sexuality rather than just keeping it to himself. Again, with no proof that he did that. Making an argument over and over again sure sounds like insisting to me.

Yes, there was an agenda behind this becoming a big story. ESPN is publishing the book and this is how they hype it.

An Indiansnetwork, your ego and that of people like you never ceases to amaze me. Some of us manage to have values that just don't agree with your values. To dismiss anybody who doesn't uphold your beliefs as lacking values altogether is simply closed-minded, arrogant ignorance.

  3. He didn't hide it.
He revealed it on his own schedule, which is his perfect right to do.

Junkie, I don't know your sexual preference. You've now hid it.

  5. You are not serious, are you?
Anything you don't reveal you are hiding?
Noah Webster would like a word.
(And, FYI, he had a right to "hide" it, too.)

  6. Let us leave aside the difference in volition between being pregnant and being gay -- if only because the whole question is a troll-magnet -- the whole point is that either your sister or John Amaechi have a perfect right to tell or not to tell, for whatever reason, up to and including pure cussedness. Your sister didn't lie to you in any way. She just told you when she told you.

Look, if we want equal rights for all, then the scales not only have to be balanced, but like in appearance. Sexual harrassment must be treated equally - who the hell cares if women historically have been victims of men in these issues when you are wanting equality. Sexual harrassment is sexual harrassment. It no gender, no color, no sexual impulse barriers. It applies to all. So if a homosexual makes a pass in a locker room, the victim should sue him and the employer for not constructing a sexual harrassment free zone. If not, then again, unisex everything should be the rule. Unless we say sexual harrassment is wrong but only in protecting certain "groups" or to say the majority has had its way for years, now its time for them to pay." That would be to say that all straight males are sexual harrassers, which is wrong.

Oh and Fen, you call Cuban an idiot? He ought to be in the SportsJournalists.com liberal hall of fame with this remark:

Good story. And again, I can see your perspective.

But Junkie, you still haven't admitted whether you're heterosexual. You're being dishonest to us.

Junkie, wasn't trying to pick on you.
I'm just saying that a person's sexual preference is nobody's business unless they feel like sharing.
I will say, leave it to Cuban to find a way to make money off anything. That dude cracks me up.

MU, don't you think the gay community would lavish the guy with millions?

When it comes to money, I certainly think Cuban's one to listen to. Put him near genius level.

You're right, Junkie, I don't get it. I don't see why someone would need to disclose sexual preference in the locker room because he's gay when heterosexual males don't have to do the same. If it's no big deal, and if no one presses him for an answer one way or another, then why would he need to go out of the way to disclose such info?

Oz....do you really NOT think that most teammates, be it in bars, or wearing wedding rings, etc., don't know who's hetero?
