Legendary Phillies announcer Harry Kalas dead at 73

Sad news. Loved his voice. Like a favorite uncle.

 

I've shed tears over the deaths of very few celebrities. One of them was Jack Buck. I can identify with what longtime Phillies fans must be feeling today. RIP, Harry.

Technically, he did when he was an Astros announcer.

But you're right: Harry's first home game as a Phillies announcer was April 10, 1971 -- opening day for the Vet.
